Twelve new vessels recently ordered by Maersk will run on green methanol when they set sail in 2024 and the company is looking to secure <a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/2111985\/maersk-cant-find-enough-green-fuel-for-its-carbon-neutral-ships\/\">at least 450 mn tonnes a year<\/a> to keep them running.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t be surprised if this doesn\u2019t happen, though:<\/strong> Following the talks, Maersk announced it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maersk.com\/news\/articles\/2022\/03\/10\/maersk-engages-in-strategic-partnerships-to-scale-green-methanol-production\">signed agreements with six companies<\/a> from Europe, the US and China that will provide them with at least 730k tonnes a year by 2025.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other things we\u2019re keeping an eye on this morning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>US-based water solutions company <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xylem.com\/en-us\/\">Xylem<\/a><\/strong><strong> is planning to <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hapijournal.com\/?p=178918\">establish a factory in Egypt<\/a><\/strong>, and has <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/3\/Xylem-Office-Opening-PRL_EN.pdf\">opened a regional office (pdf)<\/a> in New Cairo. It will complete a feasibility study for the factory by the end of the year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phosphate Misr<\/strong> is set to begin construction on a <strong>USD 1.2 bn phosphoric acid and fertilizer complex<\/strong> in Abu Tartur plateau next May.
