Both Egypt and Jordan are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/world\/us-news\/2022\/02\/22\/arab-states-get-cold-feet-over-egypt-to-lebanon-gas-deal\/\">reportedly<\/a> seeking further assurances that the move will not run afoul of US sanctions in place against Syria, despite written promises from the US that it would not penalize countries involved in the plan, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/d4c45896-375b-4b81-9134-30471a8c90d8\">hatched last year<\/a> to alleviate Lebanon\u2019s power crisis<\/p>\n<p><strong>How much longer could this take?<\/strong> Oil Minister Tarek El Molla reportedly told Lebanese officials that Egypt will be pumping gas to Lebanon by \u201cspring,\u201d according to Fayyad. El Molla\u2019s most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2a11595f-b4c4-47f8-a38d-b96ca2538e6c\">public estimate<\/a> was for the pipeline to be up and running by the end of February or the beginning of March, after several delays. Meanwhile, US energy advisor Amos Hochstein <a href=\"https:\/\/lb.usembassy.gov\/interview-amos-hochstein-lbci\/\">said earlier this month<\/a> that Lebanon could agree a financing agreement with the World Bank for the gas \u201cin a matter of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>EFG Hermes\u2019 fintech platform valU has expanded its partnership with <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/waffarha.com\/en\">Waffarha<\/a><\/strong>, allowing the savings platform to become an accepted payment method through valU\u2019s POS, it said in <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/2\/valU-x-Waffarha-ENGLISH-PRL.pdf\">a statement (pdf)<\/a> yesterday.
