The factory had been taken offline due to the crippling supply glut dogging the industry, but <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9d280cef-6284-40c5-853b-a30bfae11f73\">production quotas<\/a> introduced last year to ease the crisis factored into the group\u2019s decision to bring it back online, CEO Mohamed Saad El Din was quoted as saying by <a href=\"https:\/\/alborsaanews.com\/2022\/02\/17\/1509857\">Al Borsa<\/a>. Saad El Din Group now holds an 85% stake in the factory, worth EGP 250 mn, after purchasing 72% from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shourainternational.com\/\">Shoura Group<\/a> in 2019 and then 13% from an unnamed foreign partner last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other things we\u2019re keeping an eye on this morning:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>US infrastructure giant Bechtel<\/strong> will evaluate one of <strong>Egyptalum\u2019s factories<\/strong> for possible <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/2\/Misr-Aluminum-Bechtel-Factory.pdf\">rehabilitation<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/2\/Misr-Aluminum-Bechtel-Factory.pdf\">(pdf)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Transport Ministry <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3JHqVuQ\">will<\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3JHqVuQ\">next month sign<\/a><\/strong> an agreement with a consortium made up of <strong>COSCO, Hutchison Ports, Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CMG<\/strong> to <strong>manage and operate<\/strong> the new <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b705927d-ff68-4720-8bae-3b3dfde3705d\">multi-purpose stations<\/a> in <strong>Dekheila port and Ain Sokhna port<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Insulation manufacturer <strong>ThermoNour <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3JHqVuQ\">will invest<\/a> <strong>EGP 250 mn<\/strong> in a <strong>ceramic fiber <\/strong><strong>factory<\/strong>, which it says is the first of its kind in Egypt, in the Ain Sokhna industrial zone.<\/li>\n<li>Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to review the final draft of Egypt\u2019s <strong>national climate change strategy 2050<\/strong>, which the Environment Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/46eb0c0b-2e62-47e0-8423-05c5359f3275\">launched<\/a> in November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saad El Din Group has restarted operations at the Spanish Egyptian Cement factory (Spegyco) after a three-year hiatus, the group\u2019s media spokesperson told Enterprise, confirming reports from the local press.
