The Health Ministry <\/strong>reported<\/a><\/strong> 2,145 new covid-19 infections yesterday<\/strong>, down from 2,179 the day before, as the daily tally continued to fall from a peak of 2,301 at the start of last week. Egypt has now disclosed a total of 452,821 confirmed cases of covid-19. The ministry also reported 59 new deaths, bringing the country\u2019s total death toll to 23,292.<\/p>\n

Has omicron hit its peak?<\/strong> The next three weeks could see daily covid-19 infections fall significantly as winter recedes, if we remain committed to expanding the vaccination program and stick to other precautionary measures, Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar told El Hekaya (watch, runtime: 14:36<\/a>) last night.<\/p>\n

The vaccine tally:<\/strong> 28,992,529 people are now fully vaccinated against the virus, while some 9.5 mn people have received only their first shots and 732,330 people have received booster shots.
