EGP 550 mn) transaction, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/1\/OIH-PRL-260122.pdf\">company statement (pdf)<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f15cfbf3-d11f-48d7-aa82-0ad156772e57\">Last year<\/a>, the company announced plans to sell its entire 51% stake in TWA, Pakistan\u2019s only internet service provider and owner of a 1.3k km submarine cable connecting the UAE, Oman and Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raya subsidiary Aman and Qalaa Holdings\u2019 Taqa Arabia are setting up a new energy joint<\/strong><strong> venture through which they will invest EGP 300 mn<\/strong> in the next three years, the two companies announced at a presser today, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3KOmYFR\">Hapi Journal<\/a>. The new JV is expected to begin operations in 1H2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HAPPENING NOW-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is in the UAE today to meet with Abu Dhabi Crown<\/strong><strong> Prince Mohammed bin Zayed<\/strong>, according to an Ittihadiya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=493156705506396&amp;set=a.324472705708131\">statement<\/a>. The pair will discuss bilateral cooperation, and regional security and stability. This comes a day after El Sisi <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/44602de4-83db-4e3b-8824-72e172f69aac\">met with<\/a> Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune here in Cairo to discuss the situations in Libya and Palestine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>** CATCH UP QUICK<\/strong> on the top stories from today\u2019s <strong>EnterpriseAM<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It\u2019s privatization, the speed-metal version:<\/strong> The Madbouly government <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/53d12a2a-49ef-49e0-ae71-3db7b494282d\">is planning to sell stakes<\/a> in state-owned companies every month or two, said Planning Minister Hala El Said.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Egypt bucks the trend as IMF downgrades global growth:<\/strong> The IMF <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4e675696-18e3-408c-91de-5e3665a8d6bf\">downgraded its projection<\/a> for global growth in 2022 to 4.4% in its World Economic Outlook update, down 0.5 percentage points from its last outlook report in October, while revising upwards its growth forecast for Egypt to 5.6% in FY2021-2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>The Cairo International Book Fair kicked off today at the Egypt International Exhibition<\/strong><strong> Center<\/strong>, after Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Culture Minister Enas Abdel Dayem inaugurated the fair, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/324972559673171\">a statement<\/a>. Members of the public will be allowed to enter without providing proof of vaccination, the Culture Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/322236086613485\">said<\/a> last week. The two-week event runs through to 7 February.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also happening today, the US Federal Reserve is on the second and final day of its Open<\/strong><strong> Market Committee meeting<\/strong>, at the end of which it is widely expected to confirm that it will begin raising interest rates in March. The markets are currently pricing in four 0.25-percentage-point interest rate hikes this year, in what would be the bank\u2019s most aggressive tightening cycle in decades as it tries to get a hold on inflation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IN MEMORIAM- Former editor-in-chief of Akhbar El Yom Yasser Rizk passed away<\/strong> at the age of 57 from a heart attack, the <a href=\"https:\/\/akhbarelyom.com\/news\/newdetails\/3651107\/1\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D8%A7%D9%87%D8%AF-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%B3%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86--%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%B1-%D8%B1%D8%B2%D9%82-%D9%8A%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%8A\">state-owned newspaper<\/a> reports. Carbon pricing in Europe is at a seven-week high as the continent could be forced to switch to dirtier fuel sources than natural gas, of which Russia is Europe\u2019s main supplier, as tensions over Ukraine continue to mount, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-01-26\/europe-carbon-price-rises-to-seven-week-high-on-ukraine-tensions?srnd=premium-middle-east&amp;sref=mmeFTDW1\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports.
