Recent psychological thrillers have been plagued by predictability.<\/strong> Either the perpetrator is identified in the penultimate episode, the twist can be spotted from a mile away, and \u2014 nine times out of 10 \u2014 all the answers are all but spelled out. All Her Fault<\/a>, starring Sarah Snook, Dakota Fanning, and Michael Pena is none of those things. The series presents an eight-episode saga that took us by surprise (and shock), veering from the blueprints of today\u2019s narrative fixations.<\/p>\n

The series wastes no time, with the opening scene showing Marissa Irvine (Snook) <\/strong>heading to pick up her son, Milo, from a playdate.<\/strong> Marissa is surprised when an elderly lady, Esther (Linda Cropper) opens the door, claiming no knowledge of neither son nor playdate.<\/p>\n

Soon enough, police are involved. <\/strong>As the hours pass, Marissa finds herself under scrutiny by both her family, including her husband Peter (Jake Lacy), and the public. Why didn\u2019t she cross-reference the number from which she received the text with the official parent contact list? Why did it take her so long to pick up Milo? Why did she contact a publishing house hours after her son was gone? Perhaps it\u2019s all her doing, and perhaps it's All Her Fault.<\/p>\n

All Her Fault\u2019s final act will go down in history \u2014 that is all we\u2019ll be able to share sans spoilers.<\/strong> The show, from start to finish, is one long stroke of genius. With exceptional performances \u2014 particularly from Snook, Fanning, and Lacy \u2014 on-beat pacing, and fully-realized characters, each episode proves a nail-biter. It\u2019s a thriller unlike any we\u2019ve seen recently.<\/p>\n
