GPC \u2014 the state\u2019s primary exploration and production arm \u2014 could be first in line, potentially followed by Enppi (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2018\/09\/09\/enppi-ipo-likely-to-take-place-in-1q2019\/\">sound familiar?<\/a>), Petrojet, Petromaint, and the Egyptian Drilling Company. As many as 10 petro-related companies could be in line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>What they\u2019re doing now: <\/strong>The committee is reviewing each company on a case-by-case basis to resolve law-related hurdles and bottlenecks, including updating decades-old articles of association and securing general assembly approvals. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>IN CONTEXT- This push is part of a race to meet the government\u2019s target of \u201clisting\u201d 30 <\/strong><strong>state companies by the end of June.<\/strong> The state has already moved forward with the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2026\/04\/16\/egypt-targets-30-temporary-egx-listings-by-end-of-june\/\">temporary listing of 12 public business sector firms<\/a> \u2014 including El Nasr Housing and the National Company for Asset Management \u2014 giving them a six-month window to finalize their paperwork before any potential transaction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>From The Dept. of Caveats: <\/strong>While preliminary \u201clistings\u201d on the EGX could be in the cards as early as summer, that\u2019s an administrative step. There\u2019s no way the market, in its current state, has the liquidity to support a sudden influx of big names. Instead, look for investment bankers to bring a series of offerings to market, one by one, to broaden and deepen the pool of potential investors. Listings could also presage stake sales to strategics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">A particularly welcome investment<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>Kuwaiti<\/strong><strong> franchise giant <\/strong><strong>Alshaya<\/strong><strong> Group opened its first global talent center in Cairo to <\/strong><strong>manage its tech and customer service operations across MENA<\/strong>, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/4\/1141.pdf\">press release (pdf)<\/a>. The facility will serve as a central hub for IT solutions, digital marketing, and multilingual customer service, covering MENA, Turkey, Central and Eastern Europe, Greece, and Cyprus, it said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>The Communications and IT Ministry has been pushing hard to turn Egypt into a global <\/strong><strong>destination <\/strong>for what the industry now calls \u201cglobal capabilities centers\u201d \u2014 what we called \u201coutsourcing\u201d a generation ago<strong>. <\/strong>Last year alone, Egyptians doing digital, back-office, and customer service work for the rest of the world brought a staggering <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2026\/04\/05\/egypt-begins-work-from-home-experiment-to-cut-energy-use-amid-wartime-pressures\/\">USD 7.4 bn<\/a> into the country, of which USD 4.8 bn came from outsourcing services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>Why it matters: <\/strong>We\u2019re not sure we see the outsourcing sector growing as fast as the good people at ITIDA do (AI will challenge its prospects worldwide), but two thoughts there. First, these are real, meaningful jobs \u2014 and many of them will survive whatever happens with AI. And perhaps more significantly in this case: Alshaya is investing more in Egypt, just two years after it had to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2024\/01\/18\/alshaya-group-to-downsize-business-in-egypt\/\">close stores and brands<\/a> as it grappled with the FX crisis of the day. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/enterpriseam-egypt\">WISH THIS MORNING\u2019S ISSUE was a podcast? The biggest changes include setting stricter ceilings on how margin-trading is financed, <strong>restricting financing to local currency borrowing for EGP-denominated securities<\/strong>, and introducing a<strong> 10% cap on how much of a client\u2019s portfolio can come from securities outside the EGX100. <\/strong>Brokerages will also have to report clients\u2019 margin borrowing to iScore. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>The main takeaway: <\/strong>The central bank wants to protect local lenders \u2014 the move ensures that if the already-volatile market takes a hit, banks will stay in the clear, protected by these new regulations. The Financial Regulatory Authority has steadily made margin trading easier by loosening regulations over the past decade, but adoption has been relatively shallow \u2014 a few years back, a small minority of investors traded on the margin. The CBE has in the past explored ways of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2021\/04\/20\/beltone-on-board-to-manage-cbe-margin-trading-support-fund\/\">backstopping brokerages<\/a> ; the new regulations fit its wider pattern <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2025\/12\/23\/the-cbe-is-gently-throttling-the-consumer-credit-engine\/\">tightening regulations<\/a> to make sure nothing happening outside of banks might impact the stability of the banking system. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>Looking ahead: <\/strong>Local lenders have six months to comply with the updated regulations. We\u2019ll be watching to see if the concentration rules could see liquidity shift to blue-chip names. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Data point<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>EGP 4 tn \u2014 that\u2019s how much we transferred via our mobile <\/strong><strong>wallets last year<\/strong>, as the country\u2019s digital payment ecosystem matures, according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/4\/1144.pdf\">CBE data (pdf)<\/a>. By the end of the year, the total number of registered mobile wallets in the country reached 60 mn, nearly 4x higher than the 15.2 mn recorded in 2019. The data does not specify the ratio of active users to dormant accounts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>Youth driving adoption: <\/strong>The surge in adoption is largely driven by younger users. Some 19 mn wallet holders are aged 15-35, compared with 17 mn users aged 36 and above. At its core, my role is about delivering value to consumers, shareholders, and the communities we serve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Edita\u2019s story started with a simple observation.<\/strong> Our group CEO was in Greece when he noticed a mother giving her child a packaged chocolate croissant on the beach. At the time, Egypt\u2019s FMCG market didn\u2019t have products like that \u2014 convenient, ready-to-eat snacks. That moment sparked the idea of bringing this format to Egypt, and it quickly proved to be a strong fit for a market where people are constantly on the move.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>One of the most interesting shifts we\u2019re seeing in the industry is the rise of better-for-you<\/strong><strong> indulgence.<\/strong> Consumers still want great taste and convenience, but they\u2019re increasingly looking for healthier options with higher protein, less sugar, and more natural ingredients. It\u2019s a trend we\u2019ve seen globally, and it\u2019s now gaining traction in Egypt as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I\u2019m not a very early morning person.<\/strong> I usually wake up around 8 am and the first thing I do is brew coffee using freshly ground beans. I like to take a few minutes to read the news, usually skimming through X to get a quick sense of what\u2019s happening globally. Then I get ready and head to the office \u2014 it\u2019s about a 10-minute drive. On the way, I listen to EnterpriseAM Morning Drive on Spotify to catch up on both the local and international business news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>To stay focused, I rely on what I call ruthless prioritization.<\/strong> At the start of each week, I define a short list of what really moves the needle. Regular check-ins with my executive team also help keep us aligned, and I also block time for deep thinking, away from emails and day-to-day noise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>No two days are exactly the same<\/strong>, which is something I really enjoy about my role. I usually start by reviewing the previous day\u2019s sales to make sure we\u2019re on track. From there, the day can include leadership meetings, strategy discussions, or visits to our production facilities to stay close to operations. I also make time for market visits, as being close to the consumer is critical in our industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I don\u2019t like to stay at my desk for too long.<\/strong> I move around a lot \u2014 checking in with teams, sitting with colleagues, and staying connected to what\u2019s happening across the business. That\u2019s a constant in my day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Outside of work, I\u2019m very focused on my family. <\/strong>I have two young kids \u2014 a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl \u2014 and I make sure I\u2019m home early enough to spend time with them before they go to bed. My father wasn\u2019t as present as I would have liked when I was younger because of work, so I try to be intentional about that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Looking ahead, my focus professionally is on accelerating growth<\/strong>, expanding our product portfolio, strengthening our regional presence, and continuing to lead in quality and sustainability. On a personal level, I\u2019m committed to developing the next generation of leaders within the company, while continuing to invest time in my family. This year is also a milestone for us, as Edita is celebrating 30 years since its founding, and we\u2019re preparing to mark the occasion with our stakeholders, partners, and teams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Work-life balance is still an ongoing journey.<\/strong> I\u2019ve learned that it\u2019s less about splitting time evenly and more about being fully present \u2014 whether at work or at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I\u2019m currently reading <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/60321447-chip-war\" style=\"\">Chip War<\/a><\/strong> by Chris Miller, which looks at the history of semiconductors and how they\u2019ve shaped the world today. Another book I found interesting is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/1187845.The_Next_Million_Years\" style=\"\">The Next Million Years<\/a> by Charles Galton Darwin \u2014 it takes a long-term view of where humanity might be heading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The best advice I\u2019ve received came from our group CEO, who told me to always focus on<\/strong><strong> people. <\/strong>Technology can be replicated, strategies can be copied, but a strong team and culture are what
