EGX Chairman Islam Azzam said trading is expected to launch in January 2026 in comments to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hapijournal.com\/2025\/11\/18\/%d8%b1%d8%a6%d9%8a%d8%b3-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a8%d9%88%d8%b1%d8%b5%d8%a9-%d9%84%d8%ad%d8%a7%d8%a8%d9%8a-%d8%aa%d9%81%d8%b9%d9%8a%d9%84-%d8%b3%d9%88%d9%82-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%b4%d8%aa%d9%82%d8%a7%d8%aa\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Hapi Journal<\/a>, following the board approving the licensing and forwarding the proposal to the FRA.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The EGX, FRA, and Misr for Central Clearing are also wrapping up technical preparations <\/strong><strong>for short selling<\/strong>, which Azzam expects will go live in 1Q 2026. Common types include futures, options, forwards, and swaps. They are crucial in capital markets because they allow investors and companies to hedge risk, speculate on price movements, and enhance liquidity. Derivatives are also relevant to short selling because they can replicate or facilitate short positions \u2014 for instance, put options or futures contracts allow investors to profit from declines in asset prices. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The move would bring the EGX in line with regional peers that already operate listed <\/strong><strong>derivatives <\/strong><strong>markets. <\/strong>Saudi Arabia introduced its exchange-traded derivatives market in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/markets\/saudi-bourse-tadawul-officially-launches-derivatives-market-idUSL8N2FW07Z\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">August 2020<\/a>, and Abu Dhabi\u2019s ADX followed in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/markets\/commodities\/abu-dhabi-stock-exchange-launches-derivatives-market-idUSL4N2RV2AR\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">November 2021<\/a> with single equity futures.<\/p><hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\"><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>#2- The Oil Ministry signed a <\/strong><strong>USD 4 bn agreement<\/strong><strong> with US-based Hartree <\/strong><strong>Partners for long-term LNG supplies<\/strong>, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DeputySecState\/status\/1991306665816142111\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">said on X<\/a>. The agreement is a sizable part of the USD 10 bn in LNG agreements soon to be inked, extending to 2027 with a range of supplies to cover demand<strong>, <\/strong>a government source told EnterpriseAM when asked about the story.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The agreement comes as <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f6ea2e89-2761-441e-b80d-5f7de89c274a\/egypt-signs-3-5-year-lng-agreements-with-global-suppliers\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">contracts<\/a><\/strong><strong> with Aramco, Trafigura, and Vitol are set to expire in <\/strong><strong>mid-2026<\/strong>; and with renewals contingent on global market conditions, diversifying the supplier base was critical to securing more competitive pricing, the source said.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Deliveries are set to start early next year, starting at a slower pace before increasing in <\/strong><strong>the second half to meet peak demand<\/strong>, the source added. Looking ahead, our LNG requirements for next year are estimated at 120-125 shipments, we were told.<\/p><hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\"><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>#3- Positioning Galala as an attractive investment destination: <\/strong>The Madbouly government is finalizing its promotional plan for investments in Galala City, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid02pPqG74gwQAjN1Ck8yu47Cr36mZSNsS6nmpCY8TmRLzeNWZDwVxz5E781HzdEi5Qnl\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> by the General Authority for Investment and Freezones (Gafi). The projects will be available under various investment models, including public-private partnership, usufruct, ownership, management, and operation.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>About Galala:<\/strong> Galala City is a state-led national development project overseen by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. It includes the city itself, alongside Galala University, the Galala and Ain Sokhna-Zafarana roads, and a tourist resort that overlooks the Gulf of Suez.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>We\u2019ve heard of the marina before<\/strong>, with the Transport Ministry in January holding a tender targeting private players to operate the marina as part of Egypt's <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/35bf8ef8-943f-4fa9-b360-6f5f58d3cae8\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">broader strategy<\/a> to become a global yacht tourism destination.
