Italian operator Eni has yet to submit a field development plan but hopes to take a final investment decision before year-end. This would put the first gas date roughly two and a half years later \u2014 in late 2027 or early 2028 \u2014 if development work and gas pricing negotiations proceed on schedule.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Why do we care? <\/strong>Gas from the Cronos field will be coming our way to be liquified in facilities in Idku and Damietta before being re-exported to foreign markets under <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/26402e59-0c55-44d8-92dd-c93af6721edc\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">an agreement<\/a> inked between our Oil Ministry and Cyprus. Cypriot gas was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2dc267db-cc69-4210-9493-c7715be45d31\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> to start flowing to Egypt starting in 2027, with Eni <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/d9829bc3-ad90-4a63-ba4e-5f7e8b78ce58\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">expected<\/a> to complete a 90-km subsea pipeline linking the Cronos field to Port Said by the end of 2027, bringing in around 500 mcf\/d, a percentage of which will be used to feed the national grid. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The local market could get some of the gas: <\/strong>\u201cWe will send the natural gas to the Zohr infrastructure \u2026 and from there with a pipeline for liquefaction and processing and to the local market in Egypt if the parties decide so,\u201d Papanastasiou was quoted as saying.<\/p><hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\"><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>#2- Where does our USD 35 bn gas agreement with Israel stand?<\/strong> Israel\u2019s Leviathan gas field partners have until the end of the month to meet conditions for the USD 35 bn agreement with Egypt, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mees.com\/2025\/10\/3\/oil-gas\/israel-egypt-gas-deal-deadline-extended-amid-domestic-gas-price-dispute\/11695c40-a058-11f0-b7c9-a9d51050ed25\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Mees<\/a> reports. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a5ea0cf3-b7f4-4ee2-ab23-06794178f32e\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The agreement<\/a>, signed with state-owned Blue Ocean Energy, could see 130 bn cubic metres (bcm) of gas sent to Egypt from 2026 through 2040.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The Leviathan partners \u2014 Chevron, NewMed Energy, and Ratio \u2014 must still clear several <\/strong><strong>conditions for the agreement to proceed. <\/strong>Israel\u2019s Energy Ministry has already approved their development plan for the Leviathan expansion, paving the way for a final investment decision later this month. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The logistics angle:<\/strong> The consortium has also reached terms with state network operator INGL to use the planned <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1659e4af-e217-4708-a39e-3c236d044cd8\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">600 mcf\/d Nitzana pipeline<\/a> linking Israel\u2019s southern grid to Sinai. The Leviathan partners signaled their intent to proceed independently through Nitzana if other Israeli gas producers \u2014 namely Tamar and Karish operators \u2014 fail to sign transportation terms before month-end, Mees said.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The remaining obstacle lies in Israel\u2019s domestic regulatory and political arena:<\/strong> A dispute among Tamar partners over gas pricing for Israel\u2019s state utility has triggered concerns over rising electricity costs, Mees added. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also reportedly <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b39482e1-eba0-430f-964f-acf4bb07ad39\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">froze<\/a> the agreement amid rising Israeli-Egyptian tensions. The coming weeks will determine whether the partners can secure government approvals and finalize the agreement.<\/p><hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\"><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>#<\/strong><strong>3- <\/strong><strong>Discussions are still ongoing between Egypt and the IMF over the state <\/strong><strong>privatization program<\/strong>, IMF Executive Director and former Finance Minister Mohamed Maait told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.alarabiya.net\/aswaq\/exclusive\/2025\/10\/05\/%D9%88%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%B1-%D8%B3%D8%A7%D8%A8%D9%82-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%AC-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B7%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%AD%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%84%D8%A7-%D9%8A%D8%B2%D8%A7%D9%84-%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%84-%D9%85%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%88%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D9%85%D8%B9-%D8%B5%D9%86%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%82-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Arabiya<\/a>. The timing of the upcoming reviews remains under discussion, he said, adding that further reforms, particularly under the state ownership policy, are needed to unlock the country\u2019s growth potential.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>SPEAKING OF PRIVATIZATION- <\/strong>A fresh package of incentives to boost activity on the bourse will be announced within days, paving the way for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/838724d2-2e26-44ab-a419-08235289fc62\/gov%25e2%2580%2599t-looks-to-accelerate-privatization-push-in-run-up-to-imf-review\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the next wave of privatization<\/a>, a senior government official told EnterpriseAM. This next phase of privatization will kick off with a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/5470bdcf-daaa-4f22-a9eb-1307a4c1bad6\/egypt%25e2%2580%2599s-sfe-to-restructure-five-military-owned-companies-ahead-of-listings\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">company affiliated with the military\u2019s National Service Projects Organization<\/a> hitting the EGX soon, the source said. Meanwhile, the long-awaited sale of a stake in Banque du Caire will likely be pushed to 1Q 2026 to capitalize on stronger market conditions. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong>ICYMI- <\/strong>IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva recently <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9f3edc5d-c2f7-48f7-a3f9-8d50654f001a\/egypt-will-host-delegations-from-israel-and-hamas-tomorrow\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the Fund is open to Egypt pushing its privatization timeline to 2026, as long as it maintains a credible reform path. The proposed system, which will run alongside Thanaweya Amma rather than replacing it, will be optional, without charge, and structured over three years after preparatory school. Students will choose from core and elective subjects aligned with their interests and career goals, with the ability to retake exams multiple times to ensure readiness for university and the job market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>According to the decree, private schools that meet the <\/strong><strong>requirements are allowed to obtain an official license to implement the baccalaureate system<\/strong>, provided that students have obtained the Edadiya certificate or an equivalent foreign preparatory education certificate, and that schools comply with the national school code, as well as the technical and educational standards required to teach the curriculum following baccalaureate criteria. Private schools adopting this system will be under the full administrative and technical supervision of the Private Education Department at the Education Ministry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The new Egyptian baccalaureate system is currently undergoing international <\/strong><strong>accreditation, <\/strong>Education Ministry Spokesperson Shady Zalata told EnterpriseAM. The system will meet all students\u2019 educational needs, as the baccalaureate is a globally recognized framework, he said. It will be optional in Egypt, meaning both systems will be available for students to choose from, with no specific schools dedicated exclusively to the baccalaureate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>All private schools under the Private School Owners Association are open to the <\/strong><strong>introduction of the new baccalaureate system<\/strong> and are seeking licenses from the ministry to implement it, Deputy Chairman Badawy Allam told EnterpriseAM. The association believes that the new system is important, as it will gradually eliminate private tutoring, restore student confidence in Egypt\u2019s education system, and reduce the number of subjects, shifting focus to understanding and comprehension, Allam said.
