In part, it sets Cairo-headquartered Alameda up as a regional <\/strong><strong>platform. <\/strong>\u201cWe are actively engaged with the management team and key stakeholders to explore additional opportunities in Egypt,\u201d a DPI executive told us. The funding will also drive Alameda\u2019s growth in the GCC \u2014 and support investment in tech as well as the scaling of its discipline-specific centers of excellence, which include focuses on cancer, cardiology, liver disease, and orthopedics. \u201cThe envisaged investment in advanced technologies will mainly focus on digitization, diagnostic innovation, and clinical infrastructure upgrades,\u201d the DPI exec told us. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Alameda has been ramping up its expansion efforts this year<\/strong>, with plans to set up a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/109c95ce-b8f8-4ca1-b539-754862a852a1\/%253cmark%253ealameda%253c%2Fmark%253e-healthcare-is-heading-to-saudi-arabia\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">200-bed hospital<\/a> in Saudi Arabia by 2026 and partnering with TMG to build a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/485ac4ff-a905-4929-8880-69f3bb0c24e5\/tmg,%253cmark%253e-alameda%253c%2Fmark%253e-to-set-up-egp-5-bn-hospital-in-madinaty\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">EGP 5 bn<\/a> hospital in Madinaty. The healthcare group previously earmarked <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1bd6da4e-b085-4274-af0b-afe33de1a4a6\/%253cmark%253ealameda%253c%2Fmark%253e-to-invest-usd-245-mn-on-local,-regional-expansion\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 245 mn<\/a> to expand its footprint in Egypt and across the region. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>DPI was drawn to Alameda by the quality of its assets and market position<\/strong>, the exec told us. \u201cThe government\u2019s push to deepen public-private partnerships and attract foreign investment, including through the rollout of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/630c23e9-b28d-44e6-b527-09892acad9ed\/universal-health.-ins.-system-is-heading-to-aswan\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">universal health ins. program<\/a>, also made the sector more appealing by adding long-term visibility and structural stability,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Alameda owns household brands in healthcare <\/strong>including As-Salam International and Dar Al Fouad hospitals, the German Rehabilitation Center, and Tabibi 24\/7, among others. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>DPI aims to help Alameda scale <\/strong>by supporting high-potential ventures, improving governance, and embedding ESG principles across the business. \u201cWe bring operational experience, sector-specific knowledge, and a track record of scaling businesses across Africa,\u201d the executive told us, adding that DPI is \u201ca strategic partner, not just a financial investor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The PE firm declined to say how big a position the transaction represents<\/strong>, saying only that it is a \u201csignificant minority stake structured to allow us to contribute meaningfully to Alameda\u2019s strategic direction.\u201d We think that could be a blocking minority. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Lots of appetite for Egypt:<\/strong> DPI is building a pipeline of potential investments in Egypt across high-growth sectors including manufacturing, fintech, financial services, FMCG, retail, and healthcare, the company official told us. Although the pace of decline quickened, it was modest overall, according to the report. On the bright side, input cost pressures eased in June, leading to a slower rise in output prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Firms continued to reduce their input purchases for the fourth consecutive month<\/strong>, with manufacturers seeing the largest cutbacks out of the main sectors monitored by the survey. \u201cThe sharper decline in buying levels meant that total inventories stalled in June after increasing marginally in each of the prior three months. There was nevertheless a degree of pressure on suppliers, as highlighted by a slight lengthening of delivery times for the second month running,\u201d the report read.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>June\u2019s data also showed continued weakness in employment<\/strong>, with firms reducing their workforce for the fifth consecutive month, mainly due to the \u201cweaker demand.\u201d Firms also showed limited optimism about the year-ahead outlook in June, generally anticipating no growth in output, with \u201cactivity expectations in fact dropping to a historic low,\u201d according to the report. \u201cA faster drop in input purchases combined with stalling hiring activity suggests that firms expect demand to remain low and are thereby looking to make cost savings,\u201d Owen noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Geopolitical fears cloud business outlook: <\/strong>\u201cOverall expectations for future activity were the lowest ever recorded in June, with the respective index having hovered close to all-time lows in 2025 so far,\u201d Owen said. This \u201cdownbeat sentiment reflects subdued hopes for order books, as well as concerns that geopolitical risks could cause greater economic disruption,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Others share this view:<\/strong> \u201cEgypt\u2019s PMI reading was expected to remain below the 50.0 threshold in June,\u201d Thndr Securities Brokerage\u2019s Amr El Alfy told EnterpriseAM. \u201cUnfavorable geopolitical conditions in June likely caused the headline PMI to drop below the previous month\u2019s level. Aljar will only handle the residential and commercial development, NHMC Chairman and UK Cheshire County Royal Deputy Nasser Fouad told EnterpriseAM. This is NHMC\u2019s first international experience in establishing universities or educational zones, despite managing hospitals and education institutions in the UK for over 30 years. The plan is to start in Egypt and expand regionally afterward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>A big step for regional medical education:<\/strong> The project \"marks the beginning of a new era in medical education and healthcare in the Middle East,\" Fouad said, adding that the school will offer advanced medical and health sciences programs to train internationally qualified professionals and help position Egypt as a hub for medical tourism.
