While our energy import bill is expected to reach a burdensome USD 10 bn for the next fiscal year, the state thinks it can reverse its energy trade fortunes and bring in USD 5 bn in energy exports by the end of the decade. This would raise the sector\u2019s contribution to GDP to 8.0% by 2030, up from 5.8%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>IN CONTEXT- <\/strong>Badawi\u2019s comments come as Egypt faces a widening gas supply gap heading into peak summer demand. Egypt <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/140e0315-b61d-4281-b7fa-4f134169f290\/government-sets-conditions-for-its-lng-imports-ahead-of-summer-2025\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly aims to import 155-160 shipments of LNG in 2025<\/a> to close the gap between demand and supply. Egypt needs around 6.2 bn cubic feet per day (bcf\/d), but domestic production only contributes roughly 4.4 bcf\/d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Fresh projects, in addition to improving productivity, are part of the plan<\/strong>, with the Oil Ministry finalizing 15 upstream agreements worth USD 618.5 mn, on top of 12 already signed this fiscal year totaling USD 631 mn, Badawi was quoted as saying by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/almalnews.com\/2036120\/%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%AB%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA-1-2-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A8%D8%AA%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%84-27-%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%81%D8%A7\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Mal<\/a>. The 27 agreements cover the drilling of 123 wells and are expected to add some 41k barrels of crude oil per day and 1.4 bcf\/d. <\/p>\n<p <\/strong><strong>units to process them. <\/strong>The government is mulling another floating storage and regasification unit to ease pressure on the grid ahead of peak summer demand, hoping to secure enough gas to avoid a return to rolling blackouts, unnamed sources told <a target=\"_blank\"
