While the statement is vague on what he\u2019s due to discuss with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, it seems almost certain that the signing of the USD 30 bn Dabaa nuclear power plant with Rosatom \u2014 which the Electricity Ministry said would be signed before the end of the year \u2014 will be on the agenda. Speculation is rife in the local media on the day of the actual signing, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.almalnews.com\/Story\/356080\/59\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%8A-%D9%88%D8%A8%D9%88%D8%AA%D9%8A%D9%86-%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%82%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AD%D8%B7%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%88%D9%88%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B6%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%A9---%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AB%D9%86%D9%8A%D9%86\">with Al Mal<\/a> saying it is on Monday and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=08122017&amp;id=ce5cdc5a-5c5b-4c33-9d04-9784ea335e00\">Al Shorouk claiming<\/a> it will take place on Tuesday. Both are citing ministry sources. A delegation from Rosatom also reportedly announced that work on the plant would begin this month, <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ahram.org.eg\/NewsContent\/1\/64\/283057\/Egypt\/Politics-\/Russian-scientists-working-with-Egypt-universities.aspx\">according to Ahram Online<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>Putin is also expected to sign an agreement for a Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone<\/strong>, said Mohamed Aboul Enein, who heads up the Egyptian-European Business Council, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=09122017&amp;id=2533862a-9788-4c53-a616-27ab972cf939\">according to Al Shorouk<\/a>. After hitting a roadblock this summer, talks on the RIZ have been going smoothly since October, with reports that the Russian government is willing to back companies investing in the zone to the tune of USD 9 bn.<\/p><p><strong>Perhaps now Russian planes will be allowed to fly directly to Egypt once again?<\/strong><\/p><p>Weekend news included plenty of announcements out of Sharm El Sheikh, where a who\u2019s who of the Egyptian business community gathered for a \u201cbusiness with Africa\u201d conference held under the auspices of the presidency. <strong>One thing we haven\u2019t seen coming out of the conference: The investment map<\/strong> of some 600 projects the Investment Ministry said it would release in Sharm.<\/p><p><strong>UN-backed Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj is scheduled to meet President Abdel Fattah El Sisi today<\/strong>, an unnamed senior <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youm7.com\/story\/2017\/12\/9\/%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A8%D9%89-%D9%8A%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%82%D9%89-%D8%BA%D8%AF%D8%A7-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%89-%D9%84%D8%A8%D8%AD%D8%AB-%D9%85%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%AC%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%B9\/3547546\">Libyan source tells Youm7<\/a>. The two are expected to discuss the latest developments in the Libyan reconciliation process, including Egypt\u2019s efforts to unify Libya\u2019s military.<\/p><p><strong>Generational divide on Jerusalem? <\/strong>For all of the barrels of ink used up anticipating fallout from The Donald\u2019s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel (and to say nothing of the late-night bloviating on the airwaves), <strong>Egypt\u2019s streets were resoundingly chill from Thursday and through this morning. <\/strong>Protests attracted a few hundred people at most. Perhaps related, we\u2019re picking up signs of a generational divide on the development. Anecdotally: Gen Xers and below are more (dispassionately) concerned with the regional implications of the move than they are outraged. Amer did not provide further details on the planned IPO, which was initially expected to take place this fall, but was delayed as a result of the central bank\u2019s shakeup of management at state-owned banks. Government officials <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/09\/13\/cbe-to-complete-amendments-of-the-central-bank-and-banking-acts-in-a-month\/\">had said at the time<\/a> that the bank\u2019s new leadership would be key to promoting the original offer. The EGX <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/02\/09\/egx-approves-listing-banque-du-caire\/\">had approved in February<\/a> BdC\u2019s request to list 562.5 mn shares at par value of EGP 4 per share. Industry types had later said the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2017\/03\/20\/govt-considers-putting-49-of-banque-du-caire-up-for-sale\/\">government is considering selling<\/a> up to 49% of Banque du Caire as part of the IPO process, including 5% which would trade a global depositary receipts on the London Stock Exchange.
