style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>#1-<\/strong><strong>Gov\u2019t allocates EGP 596 bn for subsidies and social support in the next fiscal <\/strong><strong>year<\/strong>, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said in a <a target=\"_blank\" Alongside this, the firm\u2019s export revenues increased by 69% y-o-y to EGP 180 mn in 2023, which was driven by the \u201cUSD-denominated nature of export sales, ultimately having a favorable effect on performance given the currently depreciating state of Egypt\u2019s local currency,\u201d the firm said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>On a quarterly basis:<\/strong> Rameda\u2019s reported net income grew 4% y-o-y to EGP 56 mn, while its To meet these ambitious targets, the government has been expanding the country\u2019s airports and adding new ones, offering flight incentives, and even working towards getting private players to run the nation\u2019s airports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">BIG TARGETS-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Fasten your seatbelts and stow away tray tables<\/strong>, the government has some ambitious aviation targets to reach by 2030 that it laid out in theCabinet Information and Decision Support Center\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/1\/316.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report (pdf)<\/a>, including:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#1- Boosting the airports\u2019 total capacity to 97.4 mn passengers a year <\/strong>from last year\u2019s 64.8 mn \u2014 with particular focus on Cairo International Airport, aiming to raise its capacity to an annual 31.6 mn passengers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- Raising tourism revenues 20% annually to USD 45 bn by 2030<\/strong>, up from the USD 13.6 bn <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/3\/1363.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">recorded (pdf)<\/a> by the central bank in the previous fiscal year. To help reach this <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/63475988-4cb4-4a7f-8124-9a9bc5677029\/gov%25e2%2580%2599t-unveils-six-year-strategy-to-triple-fx-receipts.-plus:-imf-sees-usd-trading-at-36.83-against-egp-through-2028\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">target<\/a>, the government wants to see Egypt <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b252d5fc-e5e3-41f9-a8ca-8c9cf8c17127\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">welcome<\/a> 30 mn tourists annually by 2028, more than double the 14.9 mn tourists that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fb9e3a64-3a48-4796-9de5-cc190cb9805c\/this-evening:-it%25e2%2580%2599s-a-slow-news-day-in-cairo-as-regional-events-dominate-our-newsfeed\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">visited<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#3- Improving the ranking of national flag carrier<\/strong>, by pushing EgyptAir\u2019s global ranking to 30th place \u2014 it is currently ranked 95th globally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#4- Expanding abroad:<\/strong> The country\u2019s six-year aviation strategy sees our aviation sector expanding internationally, particularly in Africa. It also sees the country diversifying the travel routes offered and attracting more tourists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#5- Having a bigger and better air freight fleet<\/strong>, to bolster logistics capacity with a fleet numbering at least 130 by the end of El Sisi\u2019s third term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">BIGGER, BETTER AIRPORTS-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Some airports are due for significant expansions and upgrades<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>The new terminal that the government plans to add to the Cairo International Airport will double the total capacity and accommodate an additional 30 mn passengers per year, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid02VXPGBCTfcUFn6pUNUwQ96KuLgUF2uSYtJRHzRgUGobK6QtstD2FB9RuapVEgBroMl?locale=ar_AR\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">cabinet statement<\/a> in January. Egyptian aviation companies also <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9a68ef04-8213-41a0-91ad-60c0769265df\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed three framework agreements<\/a> with China\u2019s largest construction company in October to construct a new passenger terminal at Hurghada Airport and to develop Cairo International Airport including by building a new hangar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>And plenty of new ones are also being built or have just opened: <\/strong>Cairo got another airport last year, after Sphinx International Airport received its flight <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/fe4520c4-14d6-4284-9f27-e0a88b98bbfa\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">in February 2023<\/a>. Airports are also planned, under construction, or have been recently opened in the new administrative capital, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/98fd7df8-7e83-42c6-a867-b40af8430539\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Ras El Hekma<\/a>, El Alamein, Berenice, Bardawil, and in other cities across the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">A LITTLE PUSH-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Charter flight incentives have helped increase tourist arrivals: <\/strong>Hungary\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2fc6d644-f126-40b3-81e9-417b7c0213ad\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Wizz Air<\/a>, the UK\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c0d9365e-8b73-4e22-8da8-10a0166b4c26\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">easyJet<\/a>, and other budget airlines from Europe and also the region have been steadily increasing their routes to the country \u2014 supported in no small way by the government\u2019s charter flight incentive program. Under the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b72aaca2-4297-4a97-b310-d48a89e9de79\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a>, the government pays chartered flights a certain amount depending on the route and the number of passengers on board to incentivise airlines to expand routes to Egypt and offer tickets at a more attractive price point. The program was again <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/f47e4430-cd72-4219-8560-5e3dd6b26c1e\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">extended<\/a> in October until April 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>EgyptAir also has a part to play: <\/strong>Increasing investments and diversifying destinations for the national carrier EgyptAir is part of the aviation sector\u2019s growth strategy leading up to 2030, our Civil Aviation Ministry source told us. The government wants to better utilize the carrier\u2019s resources to promote Egypt-bound air travel and improve the carrier\u2019s reputation after it fell out of Skytrax's list of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.worldairlineawards.com\/worlds-top-100-airlines-2023\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">hundred top airlines<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>And it\u2019s already investing in increasing and modernizing its fleet:<\/strong> In November, EgyptAir placed an order for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/8fca11e4-9a47-4f6e-bc44-0c918b293974\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">18 new aircraft from Boeing<\/a> and another for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/01c1d323-33d2-4a22-a2c8-003fb5759698\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">10 new A350-900 jets from Airbus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">PRIVATE SECTOR ENTERS-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Airports management shakeup is a go:<\/strong> The Madbouly government has started the process of bringing in the private sector to manage and operate the country's airports, which the government <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid0249v27W6nVbneoXKNmmeYwvUy2y5WYCFoUPZhGkJhDW8d9vMmmKbewrLb6Y9vyFzml\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">argues<\/a> will both improve services and increase revenues collected by state coffers.
