next week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The IMF could quadruple its assistance package<\/strong>, potentially giving the Madbouly government and CBE Governor Hassan Abdalla the firepower they need to properly float the EGP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Will COP28 see an agreement of any form? <\/strong>There are just days left on the official schedule (overtime is always a possibility) as Saudi Arabia, Russia and other oil and gas producers look set to reject a final agreement that would phase out hydrocarbons.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Let\u2019s unpack all of that:<\/strong><\/p><p cast their ballots for one of four presidential hopefuls: incumbent <strong>President Abdel Fattah El Sisi<\/strong>, Al Wafd Party\u2019s <strong>Abdel Sanad Yamama<\/strong>, the Egyptian Social Democratic Party\u2019s <strong>Farid Zahran<\/strong>, and the Republican People Party\u2019s <strong>Hazem Omar<\/strong>.<\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>How to get <\/strong><strong>blue ink<\/strong><strong> on your finger<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>Find your nearest polling station by entering your national ID on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elections.eg\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">official website<\/a>. Votes are now being <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/bdwa7d3p\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">counted<\/a>. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>When\u2019s the big announcement?<\/strong> We can expect to hear the results of the vote on 18 December. A runoff, if necessary, will take place in early January 2024. <\/p><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>BTW- <\/strong><strong>Lights are staying on for the election period:<\/strong> The nation is getting a four-day holiday from the nationwide blackouts that have been a common feature of daily life since July. An Electricity Ministry source told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/4zhrxbsj\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Akhbar Al Yom<\/a> that load reductions will be paused from Saturday through to Tuesday to ensure the lights remain on at polling stations.<\/p><hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\"><p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>#2- More inflation relief?<\/strong> New figures are expected to show that inflation continued to slow in November on the back of easing food costs and a favorable base effect, according to a poll of six analysts conducted by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/yc3x9yrs\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p><ul>\n<li><strong>Where we stand:<\/strong> Annual urban inflation eased to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c463d2d9-390f-4e0c-b240-5dbf10bf591a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">35.8%<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c463d2d9-390f-4e0c-b240-5dbf10bf591a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">y-o-y<\/a> in October from September\u2019s record high of 38.0% thanks to slowing food price increases. The information of high- and medium-risk clients will have to be updated every two years at most, while that of low-risk clients will need to be updated every five years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brokerages face a new capital adequacy requirement <\/strong>that demands they have at EGP 15 mn worth of capital, up from EGP 5 mn. Companies have six months to hike their capital and can apply for another six-month extension.<\/li>\n<li><strong>There\u2019s now a lower cap on how much any one client can borrow from a <\/strong><strong>brokerage for margin trading:<\/strong> No individual can account for more than 10% of a brokerage house\u2019s margin trading pool. In cases where a margin client is also trading through vehicles over which they have control, the combined figure goes up to 15%.
