The next step: Appointment of a financial advisor for the transaction as early as next week.<\/p><p>Also piquing our interest this morning: Bloomberg\u2019s piece on the SWF name-checks us as the Middle East\u2019s fastest-growing economy \u2014 and <strong>it looks like the government expects GDP to expand at a 6.4% rate<\/strong> in the next fiscal year. That\u2019s better than the 6.0% rate expected this year, but down from an earlier projection of &gt;7%.<\/p><p>Meanwhile, news of friends: <strong>Cleopatra Hospitals is eyeing what could be its first expansion outside Egypt<\/strong>, while <strong>Algebra Ventures and CVentures led a USD 1 mn series A funding round <\/strong>for Yodawy, Egypt\u2019s largest online digital pharmacy benefits platform.<\/p><p>We have chapter and verse on all of this in this morning\u2019s Speed Round, below.<\/p><hr class=\"grey-line\"><p><strong>A delegation from Chinese government\u2019s influential consultative body wraps up its visit today.<\/strong> It has been in town to talk over Egypt\u2019s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.egypttoday.com\/Article\/1\/77628\/Chinese-delegation-led-by-CPPCC-to-visit-Egypt-to-talk\">the local press reports<\/a>. We have more on this in this morning\u2019s Diplomacy + Foreign Trade, below.<\/p><p><strong>The first iteration of the <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ees.egypt\">Egypt Economic Summit<\/a><\/strong><strong> gets underway today<\/strong> at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2019\/11\/2931.pdf\">according to a press release (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>It\u2019s interest rate week: <\/strong>The CBE meets on Thursday to review interest rates, with five of the six economists we surveyed last week predicting a rate cut.<\/p><p><strong>Our friends at AmCham are hosting the US-Egypt Future Prosperity Forum a week<\/strong><strong> from today. Neither has formally confirmed their interest. Siemens, meanwhile, will be operating the plants until at least 2026, having <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2018\/09\/23\/siemens-to-run-egypts-3-new-massive-power-plants-for-8-years\/\">signed an eight-year contract<\/a> last September. Shaker said at the time that Siemens would continue to work alongside any new operator.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But it\u2019s possible this isn\u2019t yet cast in stone: <\/strong>Government sources told the local press yesterday that the SWF is studying other scenarios, including one in which it takes a 60-70% stake in the plants, leaving a minority stake for the private sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the timeline?<\/strong> Soliman told Bloomberg the fund expects to finalize an agreement with investors by next year, while sources said the tariff at which the ministry will purchase electricity is expected to be agreed before the end of the current fiscal year in June.
