French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire vowed that the EU would respond in kind if the US follows through on its threats. Speaking during the NATO summit in London, Trump referred to the tensions as a \u201cminor dispute,\u201d adding that \u201cwe\u2019ll probably be able to work it out.\u201d<\/p><p><strong>\u2026but then poured a bucket of ice cold water on the prospect of reaching a trade<\/strong><strong> agreement with China soon<\/strong>, telling reporters in London yesterday he has \u201cno deadline\u201d and \u201clike[s] the idea of waiting until after the [2020 presidential] election.\u201d There had been hope in recent weeks that the US and China were closing in on a \u201cphase one\u201d trade agreement, but Trump told reporters that he thinks that Washington can twist Beijing\u2019s arm for a better agreement. The report did not include a decision on \u201cwhether to formally recommend Mr. Trump\u2019s impeachment and removal,\u201d leaving it up to another committee to decide, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/12\/03\/us\/politics\/impeachment-trump-intelligence-committee.html?action=click&amp;module=Top%20Stories&amp;pgtype=Homepage\">the New York Times notes<\/a>. Regulatory and commercial considerations are pushing investment banks to cut back on research departments \u2014 especially in Europe, which has seen analyst numbers fall by up to 26% since 2011, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/a85848e0-1507-11ea-9ee4-11f260415385\">Financial Times reports<\/a>. Globally, the number of analysts working at the 12 biggest investment banks fell almost 11% between the end of 2017 and 1H2019, according to data provider Coalition.<\/p><p><strong>Comoros raises funds four times its GDP: <\/strong>Comoros, the Arabic-speaking island off the coast of East Africa with a USD 1.2 bn economy, has raised nearly USD 4 bn in financing for tourism and infrastructure projects, the country\u2019s Foreign Minister Souef Mohamed El-Amine said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-12-03\/comoros-raises-4-billion-to-fund-infrastructure-tourism\">according to Bloomberg<\/a>. El-Amine gave no further details beyond saying the proceeds were secured during a meeting in Paris this week that was attended by representatives from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, Japan, alongside hosting nation France. The plants saved the country EGP 7.3 bn in FY2018-2019, and this figure will rise to EGP 12 bn in 2022 and EGP 16 bn when they reach full capacity, meaning that the project will recover its costs within 5-7 years, Shaker said.
