Most have their own headlines and images, making them easier to find as you scroll through \u2014 particularly if you\u2019re reading in your mail phone\u2019s mail app. The emphasis is on what our friends at Axios call \u201c<strong>smart brevity<\/strong>\u201d: Longer where we need to be longer, and just one sentence where a sentence is all you need.<\/p><p><strong>Everything you love about Enterprise is still here<\/strong>, but it may have moved. The UK hopes to start rolling out Pfizer and BioNTech\u2019s vaccine <strong>as early as Monday 7 December<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ebd9ca50-c2d7-4b0e-afd5-e90e93c0c495\">the Financial Times<\/a> writes in an exclusive. Across the pond, United Airlines has started charter flights to preposition doses of the two-shot serum. \u201cPfizer has been laying the groundwork to move quickly if it gets approval from the Food and Drug Administration and other regulators world-wide,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/united-begins-flying-pfizers-covid-19-vaccine-11606512293\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports.<\/p><p><strong>What about AstraZeneca\u2019s less-expensive, easier to transport shot?<\/strong> A few days after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi cautioned that <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1c53ecf2-df2e-4e9c-a021-4a33f539d850\">we may be waiting until the middle of next year<\/a> until we get our hands on a vaccine, one of our jabs-of-choice suffered a setback that could extend the wait for regulatory approval. After announcing up to 90% effectiveness for their vaccine, AstraZeneca\u2019s data and methodology came under scrutiny over the weekend after it was revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c5ed903b-f9c1-4e0d-be0e-d32f81400a65\">the magic half-dose full-dose combo<\/a> that saw biggest success was actually administered by mistake \u2014 and that the inoculation had barely been tested on people over 55. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/the-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-data-isnt-up-to-snuff\/\">Wired<\/a> has the A-Z of the latest on the Astra vax.<\/p><p><strong>The company is responding by launching a new large-scale trial across multiple <\/strong><strong>countries<\/strong>, while assuring that the original timeline for regulatory approval should remain unchanged, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/nov\/26\/scrutiny-grows-over-oxford-universityastrazeneca-vaccine\">the Guardian<\/a> reports. The British government certainly doesn\u2019t seem to have qualms about the study, reportedly asking the regulator to move ahead with the approval process.<\/p><p><strong>Egypt has ordered enough of the shots to cover some 30% of the population<\/strong>, the health minister <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c5ed903b-f9c1-4e0d-be0e-d32f81400a65\">said<\/a> last week. The vaccine is proving popular among much of the developing world, both because of its low-cost but because it is able to be transported via normal distribution chains (and not super-cold ones like is required by the Pfizer and Modern mRNA vaccines).<\/p><p><strong>Vaccine optimism is keeping investors bullish on emerging market stocks<\/strong>, with EM equity funds attracting more than USD 14 bn over the past two weeks, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/37db80cf-a352-4790-8e80-10a8c76e63af\">Financial Times<\/a>. Prospects of a vaccine breakthrough have increased risk appetite, <strong>reversing the more than USD 90 bn outflows from EM equities<\/strong> at the outset of covid-19 lockdowns in March. Analysts predict EM value stocks, traditionally in volatile sectors such as energy and finance, will get a boost compared to tech\u2019s highly priced growth stocks. Renaissance Capital\u2019s Charles Robertson had said <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/8c2facb0-b5e1-42dd-aafc-6804b7f7bc76\">earlier this month<\/a> that EM and FM will begin attracting portfolio flows, and recommended looking at local-currency bonds in Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Angola.<\/p><hr class=\"grey-line\"><p><strong>Egyptian investment banks aren\u2019t the only ones who\u2019d love to <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/pin\/294422894364031551\/\">transmogrify<\/a><\/strong><strong> themselves <\/strong><strong>into commercial banks. <\/strong>Automaker General Motors is set to seek a banking charter in the United States, hoping that being allowed to take deposits will let it grow its automotive business while avoiding the near-disaster that befell it the last time it got into non-bank financial services, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/gm-plans-to-seek-banking-charter-to-grow-auto-lending-business-11606501125\">WSJ reports<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>SOUND SMART- When will Saudi Arabia \u2764\ufe0f Israel? <\/strong>\u2018Round about the time Joe Biden sits in the White House. Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman plans to offer to end the freezout of Qatar, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/ae7e041f-ff4b-4df7-8b2b-06488e17a91c\">Financial Times<\/a> reports, while also holding out the prospect of normalizing relations with our neighbors to the east. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/secret-meeting-in-desert-between-israeli-saudi-leaders-failed-to-reach-normalization-agreement-11606508754\">WSJ<\/a> quotes aides as saying MbS declined during his recent (not so) secret meeting with Bibi Netanyahu in the hope of having more bargaining power with the Biden administration.<\/p><p><strong>Meanwhile: Agent Orange said for the first time this weekend that he will leave office <\/strong>if the electoral college votes for Biden on 14 December, <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2020\/11\/26\/politics\/trump-leave-office-electoral-college\/index.html\">CNN reports<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>SIGN OF THE TIMES- Covid is the best thing to have happened to financial inclusion in <\/strong><strong>\u2026 forever. <\/strong>Egyptians did 9.9 mn electronic transactions in October \u2014 a 156% rise over the comparable figure for March of this year, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2VbyToT\">National Telecoms Regulatory Authority<\/a>. The whole WFH thing is also fuelling growth in the mobile segment, with the nation\u2019s total stock of mobile subscribers <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/37latP8\">growing 2%<\/a> to 96.58 mn subscribers in 2Q2020.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 18px;font-weight: bold\">Circle your calendar:<\/p><p><strong>WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING THIS WEEK? <\/strong>You can expect final results tomorrow for Giza and other ridings after runoff elections for the House of Representatives. Bausch \u2014 back before it rebranded to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/valeant-will-get-a-new-name-again-hoping-to-shed-its-scandals-2018-05-08\">sidestep the tarnished Valeant name<\/a> \u2014 acquired Amoun, which manufactures human and veterinary meds, in 2015 for USD 800 mn and some contingency payments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saudi, UAE funds in talks over a wider co-investment plan: <\/strong>Saudi\u2019s USD 347 bn Public Investment Fund (PIF) and ADQ, the Abu Dhabi-based USD 136 bn sovereign fund, have recently been working closely on transactions in key industries such as healthcare, food security, and industrials, Bloomberg\u2019s sources said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ADQ seems to like Egypt: <\/strong>ADQ <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/958aae17-9582-4af8-a183-ae322ccf304b\">invested<\/a> in October in Indian retailer Lulu\u2019s recent foray into Egypt, and, according to Bloomberg, the PIF is mulling the same. Al Ahly Capital is the National Bank of Egypt\u2019s investment arm. IBA traces its roots to the late 1970s, when the late WIlliam Harrison opened a business that aimed to help foreign investors do business here. The bonds were offered exclusively through private placement to institutional investors and received an A- credit rating by Middle East Ratings and Investors Service (MERIS). Amer Group\u2019s <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/546bc44f-47ba-4afc-b6c0-360b28d9fd8f\">anticipated issuance<\/a><\/strong><strong> is set to <\/strong><strong>hit the market in 1Q2021<\/strong>, Sarwa Capital CFO Ayman El Sawy told <a href=\"https:\/\/alborsaanews.com\/2020\/11\/26\/1401751\">the local press<\/a>.
