And we\u2019re not the only ones debating whether a \u201cpost-covid world\u201d (whatever the [redacted] that might be) could mean four days in the office and one day a week from home.<\/p><p><strong>That\u2019s why we\u2019ve asked companies across the spectrum about their stands on WFH vs. <\/strong><strong>back to the office <\/strong>for a poll you can catch in tomorrow\u2019s issue.<\/p><p><strong>Tomorrow is interest rate day and the emerging consensus points to a hold<\/strong> when the Central Bank of Egypt\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee meets. All 11 economists and analysts surveyed in <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e8425aa4-e5d7-459b-aa44-845d254d94e0\">an Enterprise poll<\/a> said interest rates will likely remain unchanged as the central bank looks to support the EGP and protect the carry trade. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSKCN26D1F5\">Reuters poll<\/a> out yesterday suggested much the same.<\/p><p><strong>It\u2019s day three of EFG Hermes\u2019 virtual investor conference<\/strong>, where more than 650 institutional investors with aggregate AUM north of USD 17 tn are connecting for discussions on the macroeconomic and industrial outlook for frontier and emerging markets. The organization will serve as a market platform for natgas producers, consumers, and transit countries in the region to develop existing resources and develop the infrastructure for future exploitation, in addition to regulating natgas policies in the region that protect the rights of member states to preserve their resources, the signatories said in a joint statement after the online ceremony. The seventh member, Palestine, did not attend the ceremony but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wafa.ps\/Pages\/Details\/9697\">will sign at a later date<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is this all going to happen?<\/strong> Through the forum, member states will exchange information and seismic data studies on potential gas wells and delineate new gas finds that straddle maritime borders, Medhat Youssef, former chairman of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation tells Enterprise. Member states could even get preferential rates on each other\u2019s gas supplies, as well as preferential access to liquefaction facilities, he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The forum is already looking at growing its mandate beyond natgas exploitation<\/strong> to potentially cover electricity and renewable energy, Cypriot Energy, Commerce, and Industry Minister Natasa Pilides <a href=\"https:\/\/in-cyprus.philenews.com\/east-med-gas-forum-members-sign-statute-officially-establishing-the-regional-forum\/\">told reporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s in?<\/strong> In addition to Egypt, <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/03\/07\/inaugural-meeting-of-the-east-med-seven-took-place-yesterday\/\">the founding member states<\/a> are Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Israel, Jordan, and Palestine. France <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/26f655dd-7dde-4517-86ad-8fd190f86a11\">had formally requested<\/a> to join the forum as a member while the US asked to be a permanent observer. Private and public sector companies will also be included as members of an <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2019\/07\/28\/east-med-states-reiterate-need-for-energy-cooperation-during-regional-gas-forum\/\">advisory committee<\/a>, although it was not made clear whether the committee would only include companies from member states.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The door is not yet closed to others who want to join \u2014 ahem, Turkey:<\/strong> Other countries can apply to join \u201cas long as their goals match those of the forum,\u201d Oil Minister Tarek El Molla said. The forum is not designed to gang up against any other players and is instead meant to create a coalition that works together \u201cwithout causing problems,\u201d Egypt\u2019s ambassador to Cyprus Mai Khalil <a href=\"https:\/\/in-cyprus.philenews.com\/east-med-gas-forum-members-sign-statute-officially-establishing-the-regional-forum\/\">said<\/a>.
