We also look at how despite this, education proved a defensive sector, with equities staging a rapid comeback and CAPEX investment remaining strong.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/blackboards\/2020-review-internationalization-core-govt-approach-education\/\">Part 2<\/a><\/strong><strong> looks at how internationalizing higher education became the major policy initiative of 2020.<\/strong> We explore the objectives of the policy, what steps took place this year to bring it about, and what is the likelihood of it improving quality and driving private sector investment and FDI.<\/p>\n<p>Your top education stories for the week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Higher Education Ministry <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/3ec7c805-6d54-4688-a6f1-136852bf5862\">is launching<\/a><\/strong><strong> a UCAS-style platform<\/strong> for private universities to accept incoming students this coming Spring semester. The platform will become mandatory for all universities starting from the Fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>International private school outfit <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elrabwa-edu.com\/\">El Rabwa Network<\/a><\/strong><strong>is planning to invest EGP 1.2 bn next year<\/strong> on developing four schools in Future City, the <a href=\"https:\/\/alborsaanews.com\/2020\/12\/27\/1409032\">local press reports<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Egyptian Japanese University<\/strong> will launch 14 new departments in an EGP 10 mn expansion, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/37E1EBz\">Mubasher<\/a> reports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beni Suef University<\/strong> inaugurated its New Technological College as well as 14 ICT focused labs, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/38ni6VS\">statement<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mid-year exams will be spread out between 10 January and 5 February <\/strong>to limit the number of students who are present in testing centers on any given day, , Education Minister Tarek Shawki<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/96391420-f03b-4482-83d4-18edfc7cec12\">said on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we look to close out Blackboard\u2019s first full year, we thought it would be appropriate to run a recap of our Year in Review issues.
