The reading is also up by 0.7 percentage points from Reuters Poll\u2019s median estimate of 11.0% y-o-y. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Driving the decline:<\/strong> September\u2019s inflation reading was backed by an easing in food and beverages prices \u2014 the largest component of the basket of goods and services used to calculate headline inflation \u2014 with food prices increasing only 1.4% y-o-y during the month. This was backed by an annual dip in meat and vegetable prices by 0.6% and 20.9%, respectively. But with that power has come a troubling flood of disturbing, copyright-infringing, and potentially dangerous content that raises serious concerns about whether the company\u2019s safeguards are working at all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>An immediate descent into chaos:<\/strong> Within hours of Sora 2\u2019s release, the app\u2019s social feed filled with copyrighted characters in compromising situations and graphic scenes of violence and racism, reports the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/oct\/04\/openai-sora-violence-racism\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Guardian<\/a>. The videos included bomb and mass-shooting scares with panicked people screaming and running across college campuses, fabricated war zone footage from Gaza and Myanmar, and CCTV <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=v4HdrSv3cRE\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">footage<\/a> of crimes being committed\u2026 by deepfaked OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The app skyrocketed to the number one spot in Apple\u2019s App Store within just three days of its limited invite-only release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Perhaps nothing illustrates the ethical void at the heart of Sora 2 better than what <\/strong><strong>users have done with deceased physicist Stephen Hawking.<\/strong> Videos show Hawking being knocked to the ground by wrestlers in a WWE-style ring, taking blows to the face from a UFC fighter that topples him from his wheelchair, trampled by a raging bull, and attacked by a crocodile, according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/artificial-intelligence\/openai-sora-stephen-hawking-brutalized\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Futurism<\/a>. Hawking was an outspoken <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/11\/06\/stephen-hawking-ai-could-be-worst-event-in-civilization.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">critic<\/a> of AI during his life, saying its development could be the \u201cworst event in the history of our civilization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>While OpenAI\u2019s safety documentation states the company will take measures to block <\/strong><strong>depictions of public figures, the company allows the generation of historical figures<\/strong>, seemingly creating a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/news\/openais-sora-bans-deepfakes-of-public-figures-except-for-dead-celebrities\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">loophole<\/a> for using images of the deceased. Yesterday, late actor Robin Williams\u2019 daughter Zelda took to Instagram to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c0r0erqk18jo\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">plead<\/a> for users to stop sending her AI-generated videos of her father. \u201cStop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't,\u201d she added. \u201cIf you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me [\u2026] It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's not what he'd want.\u201d This sentiment was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/berniceking\/status\/1975693899180990487?s=46\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">seconded<\/a> by Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Guardrails that don\u2019t guard:<\/strong> Perhaps most troubling is how easily Sora 2\u2019s supposed safety measures are being circumvented. Every Sora 2 video includes a visible watermark, but according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.404media.co\/sora-2-watermark-removers-flood-the-web\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">404 Media<\/a>, there are already half a dozen websites that will remove it, with all tested services seamlessly doing so within seconds. Tools that dismantle AI-generated metadata by altering content\u2019s hue and brightness are defeating the C2PA guardrail OpenAI claims provides protection, says cybersecurity expert Rachel Tobac. She projects her insecurities onto the incident, triggering a spiral of imposter syndrome about her identity as a woman.
