The final bill may fluctuate based on domestic production and consumption levels, thanks to a built-in flexibility mechanism negotiated with suppliers. Plans for a fifth regasification unit are also underway to accommodate the remaining 46 LNG incoming shipments, we were told.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ICYMI- <\/strong>Electricity consumption hit a new peak at 39.4 GW on Sunday, after a few days of extreme heat pushed energy demand to a series of record highs. For a formal famine declaration to be issued, the IPC requires data that cannot be obtained given the lack of access to the strip. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER<\/strong>- Over 100 international aid organizations and human rights groups called for restrictions on aid to be lifted last week. On Sunday, Israel announced a ten-hour daily pause on military operations in Gaza until further notice, allowing aid to enter the strip following international pressure. UN members and Palestinians on the ground, however, said that not much has changed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ICYMI- <\/strong>Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called on US President Donald Trump in a televised speech yesterday afternoon to urge an end to the war in Gaza, noting that conditions in the strip have become \u201c <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/41b85dc0-9fb0-4e93-adee-34ca3a66a4dd\/el-sisi-calls-on-trump-to-end-the-war-and-allow-aid-into-gaza\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">tragic and intolerable<\/a>.\u201d Trump pledged to set up food centers, condemning Israel for limiting aid and commenting that there is \u201creal starvation\u201d in Gaza \u2014 opposing Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who claims otherwise. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>MEANWHILE-<\/strong> Germany and Spain announced plans to airdrop food and other supplies into the strip. First things first, what\u2019s on the menu, you might ask? You\u2019ll find all the classics; spring rolls, dumplings, wun ton, and crispy fried vegetables. The spring rolls were crispy, light, and perfectly complemented by the accompaniment of the sweet and sour sauce. The shandong vegetables \u2014 fresh and crispy deep fried zucchini \u2014 proved one of the highlights of the menu, and are definitely worth ordering. We had initially ordered the fried beef noodles as a side, but quickly realized it was a meal of its own given the generous portion size. The menu\u2019s uncontested crown jewel, however, is the beef with potatoes, mushrooms, and chili \u2014 a stew packed with a wealth of flavor and spice without being overbearing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Our humble verdict<\/strong>: Peking has been around for decades for a reason, and we don\u2019t see the Chinese-Egyptian chain going anywhere anytime soon. Speaking to us this week is Sara Elemary, Founder and Creative Director at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/saraelemary.com\/?srsltid=AfmBOoodzTqGABCQTknSfHAKpdXBads7RQBS5duYRkHE72Vb8Q5iLbvE\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Sara Elemary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I\u2019m Sara <\/strong><strong>Elemary<\/strong><strong>, the founder, creative director, and CEO of Sara <\/strong><strong>Elemary<\/strong> \u2014 most importantly, however, I\u2019m a dreamer and somewhat of a rebel. Sara Elemary is a modest Egyptian womenswear brand that is bold, authentic, and free. The brand stems from my own personality, and exists to fight for the values I believe in. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I wanted to study fashion, but back then that wasn\u2019t a thing in Egypt. <\/strong>I ended up studying marketing at the Arab Academy For Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, and while I wouldn\u2019t say my academic background had much impact on my career, it taught me one pivotal lesson \u2014 negotiation. What really affected my career, however, was witnessing my father run his business; I would accompany him on his business trips and attend his meetings \u2014 and in doing so, I taught myself how to do business. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>For years, I did nothing \u2014 I was a mother. <\/strong>I\u2019ve always had this intrinsic belief that I would one day pursue something in fashion, but I never quite imagined that I could actually do it. I never thought of myself as a businesswoman. One day, four years after I graduated, I woke up and decided it was time to do something. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I wanted to start my own modest fashion brand because I felt the gap in the market <\/strong><strong>firsthand.<\/strong> I was veiled at the time, and I struggled to find something that suited me; I couldn\u2019t see myself in anything I tried wearing \u2014 my personality was dimmed by what I wore, and I knew I had to do something that spoke to who I was as a person. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>15 years ago, the fashion industry in Egypt lacked the necessary tools and know-how <\/strong><strong>required for what I wanted to create. <\/strong>There\u2019s a difference between a fashion business and a fashion brand; building a brand needs a story, one that carries on chapter by chapter; collection by collection. Fashion businesses on the other hand entail just pushing out pieces for profit. There were two paths ahead of me; a quick fashion business was easy money, and a brand came with its challenges; when you offer something that has a story, has its own values, that comes at a cost \u2014 literally. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Naturally, I faced many challenges. I didn\u2019t know where to manufacture, where to <\/strong><strong>source materials. I didn\u2019t even know how patterns were made. <\/strong>There were so many barriers, and the biggest challenge was introducing a high-end modestwear brand to a local market that was unfamiliar with what I wanted to offer. But I fought for it, and I taught myself everything from scratch \u2014 I had no manual. Until this day, 15 years later, I\u2019m still figuring things out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What makes Sara <\/strong><strong>Elemary<\/strong><strong> different from all the other brands out there is our story. <\/strong>We\u2019re not followers; there\u2019s a core value that guides us. What I\u2019m selling, I believe, is not just fabric or fashion, but emotions. I want women to be able to wear bold, modest clothes that speak to their personality and reflect their confidence \u2014 and that\u2019s what we offer. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Success comes at different times and in different ways.<\/strong> I think the first time I truly felt successful was when the brand was featured on Vogue Arabia. Whenever anyone comes up to me and says: \u201cyour brand helped me and made it easier for me to dress modestly\u201d, that makes me feel incredibly successful. It\u2019s easy to sell clothes, and easier to make money, but what\u2019s hard is to add value to people\u2019s lives \u2014 and that to me is success. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>In five years, for the brand\u2019s 20th anniversary, I want the brand to go regional. <\/strong>We\u2019ve been digging into the regional market for quite some time now, and over the next few years, I hope for us to be well-established. We\u2019ve already started marketing for the brand across the region and there\u2019s growing interest in the brand in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Manoeuvring through the recent economic challenges wasn\u2019t easy. <\/strong>We pushed out our existing stock, because it was important to liquidate that. We had to revisit our pricing and we cut costs as much as we possibly could. Compared to the local market, what we offer is relatively expensive, and yet we tried to cater our pricing to the market as best we could \u2014 but we still find ourselves covering our costs. If we approached pricing the same way many other high-end brands do, everything would be so much more expensive, and that would be asking too much of our customers. It\u2019s difficult for businesses during these times.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The industry lacks identity \u2014 so many brands are just carbon copies of one another. <\/strong>There are only so many brands in the Egyptian fashion industry that are instantly recognizable without a label, everything else looks and feels the same. I have no issue with fast fashion, but that\u2019s not what it means to be a fashion designer. I wish there was more creativity and more consistency; many brands skip out on entire seasons and collections, and that\u2019s simply not how it should be. I want to see more brands that know their \u201cwhys\u201d \u2014 brands with stories and goals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Helping women discover and embrace who they are through fashion has been the <\/strong><strong>most rewarding aspect of this business. <\/strong>So often in life do women find themselves in a cycle that goes back and forth between marriage, motherhood, and career \u2014 and so who they truly are inside is lost in the process. The Sara Elemary brand exists to break that cycle and help them express themselves, and when it does, it serves its purpose. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Truth be told, running a business requires you to be harsh \u2014 especially for women. <\/strong>I\u2019m personally against women letting go of their femininity, but the reality is that in business, masculinity sometimes needs to take over; sometimes you have to be the harsh, hard, bad boss. If you\u2019re caught being too lenient, you\u2019ll be taken advantage of. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>When I leave the office, I\u2019m a completely different person \u2014 and that\u2019s important. <\/strong>I\u2019ve tried hard in the past to have some sort of work-life balance, and 15 years later, I feel like I\u2019ve cracked the code. Prioritizing your personal life is important, and as humans, we don\u2019t just exist to run companies; our lives encompass so much more than just what we do, and it would be unfair to dedicate the entirety of it to work. If you do that, you\u2019ll hate it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>A book I\u2019m currently reading and would recommend is <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/138301904-the-pivot-year\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Pivot Year<\/a><\/strong><strong> by Brianna <\/strong><strong>Wiest. <\/strong>I\u2019m into self-help books \u2014 especially ones that don\u2019t bore me out. This book consists of just one page for each day; sometimes it\u2019s as short as a paragraph or a few lines, but it helps me reflect on things. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I always knew I wanted to pursue two things in life; fashion\u2026 and the clouds.<\/strong> If I weren\u2019t the brain behind my business, I\u2019d be a professional skydiving instructor. I started skydiving in an indoor training facility for two years until I became a professional indoor skydiver, but I figured, why stop there? It\u2019s always been a dream of mine to touch the clouds. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>If I were to go back in time, I\u2019d give myself a round of applause.<\/strong> I did what I could considering my circumstances; I was a mother and my children were very young when I started the brand. There was nothing more that I could do that I hadn\u2019t already done, but if I were to give my younger self a piece of advice, it would be to slow down, let go of perfectionism, and embrace the fact that we all have flaws. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Here\u2019s a piece of advice if you\u2019re planning on starting your own fashion brand: know <\/strong><strong>your story. <\/strong>It\u2019s alright to follow existing directions until you\u2019re able to form one of your own; until you realize one day, \u201cthis is where I see myself.\u201d It\u2019s important to pause every now and then and ask yourself the important questions; why am I doing this? Where will this take me? How is this adding value to my life?
