USD 8 bn program to Egypt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">THE BIG STORIES TODAY<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong> #1- IMF third review disappeared again from the fund\u2019s Executive <\/strong><strong>Board\u2019s schedule:<\/strong> The IMF Executive Board has removed the third review of our USD 8 bn loan program from its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/About\/executive-board\/EBC-Scheduled#top\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">schedule<\/a> for the second time earlier this morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>But the meeting could still take place on 29 July, <\/strong>a senior government source told Enterprise, adding that the discussions are still ongoing with the IMF to agree on some outstanding points about the new government\u2019s plan before the 29 July meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Remember:<\/strong> The IMF Executive Board was initially scheduled to discuss the third review on 10 July, before the Fund <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2a49774b-2fb2-4d2c-839e-61b1ce5778c3\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">pushed the meeting to 29 July<\/a> to \u201cfinalize some details,\u201d according to IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack, who assured in a press briefing <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/56e18c6b-9039-4d00-99ca-01f7328548f2\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">earlier this month<\/a> that these postponements are \u201cnot unusual in these kinds of circumstances.\u201d Once the fund\u2019s board approves the review, we\u2019ll be getting a fresh USD 820 tranche into the state coffers and will allow Egypt to apply for an additional USD 1.2 bn in climate finance. coming in hot for this one.<\/strong> What this basically <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.psypost.org\/seeing-yourself-as-a-main-character-boosts-psychological-well-being-study-finds\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">means<\/a> is that people who see themselves as in control of their destiny or have higher self-esteem are more likely to advocate for themselves than those who feel like they have less agency over their lives, who are more likely to let themselves be \u201cswept about by external forces (and other people).\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The paper consisted of three studies that surveyed a total of 982 undergraduate <\/strong><strong>students.<\/strong> The first study asked students to rate themselves from 1 to 5 on the scale of minor, side, or background character to major, primary, or lead character and to measure their well-being. Students in the second study were asked to recall a memory where they felt like a major character and a memory where they felt like a minor character, with their satisfaction levels being assessed both before and after recalling those memories. The initiative targets an annual growth of 31.2% in industrial output by FY 26-27 and USD 103.4 bn in total exports in the period between 2024 and 2026, and to USD 130 bn by FY 26-27.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>And a whole lot of other good talk for manufacturing and other exports:<\/strong> Also on the drawing board are incentives packages to boost export industries, partnerships with industry leaders and investors to localize the production of inputs to industry in a bid to save on FX, as well as domestic production of automotives and microchips. The cabinet is also eyeing a new database for export-oriented companies with performance appraisals, an 8% yearly increase in electronics exports and USD 2 bn in pharma exports by FY 26-27, regulatory and customs reforms, and golden licenses for agricultural projects. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Egypt\u2019s exports to Africa are getting a special focus:<\/strong> The cabinet is eyeing boosted cooperation with trade partners in Africa via the African Continental Freetrade Area (AfCFTA) \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/03d44b60-52a0-42c4-ab0b-d1f04905e3dd\/iraq%25e2%2580%2599s-development-road-sees-progress-%2B%253cmark%253e-afcfta%253c%2Fmark%253e-gets-a-big-boost\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">which seems to be taking off<\/a> \u2014 and the COMESA, the report says. African exports will also be supported by new trade missions, with added support for companies targeting exports to Africa also on the cards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Remember:<\/strong> Egypt\u2019s exports will be supported by boosted capacity at SCZONE ports, as well as new investments in logistics zones, logistics corridors, dry ports, railways, and other infrastructure. Output from these investments will contribute to reducing the import bill and curbing FX drain once they come online.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>This has been on our radar for some time:<\/strong> The Trade Ministry-led import substitution initiative first <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/5b935964-c9d1-4b35-91bb-3b6405de995e\/raw-material-availability-is-still-a-hurdle-for-local-industry\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">came to light last year<\/a>. The 152 projects mentioned include paper products, pharma, serums, pipes, automotive components, as well as iron and steel and are slated to have a USD 3 bn output and cover some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/be05bb1e-d7c8-47e3-a127-b16841306df2\/how-the-madbouly-government-plans-to-boost-industry-in-fy-2024-25\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">11% of Egypt\u2019s trade deficit<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The Madbouly-led cabinet intends to support these goals via a slew of supportive <\/strong><strong>measures,<\/strong> including completing plans for industrial clusters, improvements to roads and transport infrastructure, support for public companies involved with developing industrial clusters, and integrations with supply chains. Also on the table are programs to update the database for industrial real estate, facilities for applications and zoning, digitized permits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">COMPETITIVENESS- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Less red-tape and more ease of doing business: <\/strong>The government intends to continue implementing and monitoring reforms approved in the first meeting of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/4fe6207e-99da-4234-8449-6c2445bcd423\/this-morning:-pm-to-meet-croatian-president-today-%2B-gov%25e2%2580%2599t-to-publish-green-hydrogen-strategy-within-a-month\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Council for Investment<\/a> while preparing the next meeting\u2019s agenda. At the same time, the cabinet aims to streamline permits by leveraging digitalization, while developing and deploying the single window to simplify procedures for investors.
