National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has announced that it will raise its usage limits for credit cards carrying out transactions denominated in foreign currency, the bank announced on its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbe.com.eg\/NBE\/E\/#\/EN\/ProductDetails?inParams=%7B%22CategoryID%22%3A%22NewsCat1ID%22%2C%22ProductID%22%3A%2218800%22%7D\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The new transaction limits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Visa Gold and Mastercard Titanium <\/strong>will have a limit of<strong> EGP 25k,<\/strong> up from EGP 7.5k previously;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visa Platinum, Mastercard Platinum, and UEFA Champions League Mastercard<\/strong> will have a limit of <strong>EGP 40k,<\/strong> from EGP 12.5k previously;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mastercard World, Visa Signature, Mastercard World Elite, Visa Infinite, and Corporate Credit Cards <\/strong>will have a limit of<strong> EGP 60k,<\/strong> from EGP 20k previously.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Limits on Visa Classic, MasterCard Standard,<\/strong> and MasterCard EgyptAir cards were<strong> kept unchanged at EGP 5k.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Clients can also use the international limits for purchases and cash withdrawals while <\/strong><strong>traveling abroad<\/strong> by contacting the bank within 90 days, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gvinvestments.co\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">GV Investments\u2019s<\/a> automotive arm GV Auto has signed a partnership agreement with Chinese state-owned auto manufacturer FAW Group to locally assemble, market, distribute, and export EVs, GV Investments Chairman Sherif Hamouda told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.alborsaanews.com\/2024\/05\/13\/1791853\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Borsa<\/a>. The partnership will be backed up with an initial investment of EPG 3 bn, Hamouda told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AsharqbEGY\/status\/1790076915266597293\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Asharq Business<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Chinese EVs, assembled in Egypt: <\/strong>Locally assembled EVs from the partnership should start rolling out by the beginning of next year, Hamouda added. The two companies will use already existing factories to assemble the vehicles and have already set their sights on what models to assemble locally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not just local assembly, but local manufacture too: <\/strong>\u201cManufacturing will not be limited to local assembly only, but rather complete parts will be manufactured for the first time,\u201d Hamouda told Asharq Business. Egypt\u2019s startup community got their big break, asks about their experiences running a business, and gets their advice for budding entrepreneurs. Speaking to us this week is Ahmed Habib (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/habibco\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a>), CEO and president of Edrak and Harvest Holdings. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>My name is Ahmed Habib and I\u2019m the president and CEO of <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/edrakfortrainingandlearning\/about\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Edrak<\/a><\/strong><strong> and <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.harvestholdings.net\/about.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvest Holdings<\/a><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> I studied finance and information systems at George Washington University and supply chain management at The University of Tennessee. I got my first job working closely with a CEO. I was only there for a few weeks before I openly disagreed with his strategy \u2014 and was asked not to come back to the office. Afterward, I started working at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/knight-transportation\/people\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Knight Transportation<\/a>. I didn\u2019t know it at the time, but those first few years greatly shaped the core values that I have taken with me throughout my career. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur<\/strong>, so when I was given the chance to grow into a managerial position, I politely declined and decided to pursue entrepreneurship. I tried to start my own business \u2014 and failed a few times before the ball finally started rolling with TKG (Turn Key Group), a hotel furnishing company that I started with my partner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>From there, we began to diversify.<\/strong> We went into architecture, interior design, and construction, before exiting the industry in 2013. I had become fond of the startup concept, and that is when Harvest Holdings was born. I co-founded it as an investment vehicle with family members with the intention to support founders that had a promising vision, across different industries. We provided the know-how and the financial investments that they needed to pursue their project. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>My entrance into the family entertainment industry happened in 2018<\/strong> with a full acquisition of Edrak, the entertainment management company that owns the rights to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cairo.kidzania.com\/en-eg\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Kidzania<\/a>. Little did we know that covid-19 would soon hit and the plan would change completely. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>We took a huge, but calculated risk.<\/strong> I knew that parents would be exhausted and looking for a fun educational venue to take their kids when the pandemic calmed down. So we created a partnership and began construction for another family entertainment brand: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KidsStationArea\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Kids Station<\/a>, which was initially founded by Maged Khater. I remember being called crazy, but it worked out to our advantage. By the time places started reopening after covid-19, we had two locations ready for operation. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Our family entertainment brands continued to grow from there<\/strong> with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kidzapp.com\/eg\/kids-activities\/cairo\/explore-the-city\/kimet-at-the-national-museum-of-egyptian-civilization-114796\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimet<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nuttyscientists-egypt.com\/home\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Nutty Scientists<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/skypark.fun\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Sky Park<\/a>. We have other brands in different industries, such as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dailybloom.eg\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Bloom<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cottonball.co\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Cottonball<\/a>. If it were up to me, I\u2019d probably found one or two brands a year. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Figuring out what I needed to do wasn\u2019t a smooth journey. <\/strong>I went through rounds and rounds of trial and error with help from great mentors along the way. I think experience is the number one thing you learn from people who are ahead of you. There\u2019s a quote I\u2019ve always believed in: \u201cHard work beats intelligence and experience beats both.\u201d As long as you have a solid plan and ask the right questions, they will be more than happy to help. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I seek support from my team, which wasn\u2019t easy for me to do.<\/strong> I used to work 14-16 hour days, six days a week, wanting to do everything myself. That\u2019s not practical. I hire people who follow the same values I do. I hire people who are incredible at what they do. They are better than me in their field and that\u2019s why I need to trust them if I want my business to prosper. I have my business partners, who are also my family, to thank: Zena Sallam and Nazih Sallam. The trust and investment they put into Harvest Holdings is a major pillar that pushed it to success. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I promote disagreement within my organizations. <\/strong>We are used to living in a hierarchical, rule-based society and I believe that structure could sink a business. If you shoot down a bad idea, you\u2019re ruining the possibility of getting an incredible idea later on. As a leader, I need to give people the courage to suggest their ideas. I would often even suggest stupid ideas to encourage the team to disagree with me. We need all minds to be actively engaged. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>We\u2019ve faced so many bumps in the road, especially since covid-19.<\/strong> One of the biggest challenges is the current macroeconomic climate and the rising inflation rate. What I\u2019ve learned is that you need to be flexible. If you\u2019re rigid, you\u2019ll break. We\u2019ve been adapting through it and being as resilient as we can. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The hardest part about our business in specific is the huge responsibility that comes<\/strong><strong> with it.<\/strong> You have parents trusting you with their kids, we have to be able to live up to that responsibility and be as conscious as possible. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>It\u2019s also very rewarding. <\/strong>When someone asks what we do, I love to say, \u201cWe\u2019re in the business of unforgettable memories,\u201d because we truly are. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Am I successful? I don\u2019t think I know the definition of success.<\/strong> I am able to provide for myself and others \u2014 is that success? I can lay my head on my pillow and sleep comfortably at night. That\u2019s success. But in terms of what the world deems as success, I don\u2019t think I am. I\u2019m capable of and responsible for doing so much more than what I\u2019ve done. I just hope when it\u2019s my time, someone looks back and says it was a success. But until then, it's a work in progress. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>I have this vision that I would love to bring to life within the next five years. <\/strong>I look up to Walt Disney, so if I\u2019m still in this industry, I would want to create a value-adding entertainment world that fits into and highlights our rich Middle Eastern culture. I have no idea how I\u2019m going to achieve that but I believe life works 99% through God\u2019s grace and 1% through hard work. But I\u2019ll be working hard every day. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Advice I have for young entrepreneurs that I wish I knew earlier:<\/strong> Any business owner needs to embrace the challenges. There\u2019s no way except through it. You need to learn to tone down your ego and get in tune with yourself.
