<\/strong>AvertD, a genetic test recently approved by the FDA, uses a snippet of your DNA, and aims to pinpoint your genetic vulnerability to opioid use disorder, reports <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/premium\/article\/dna-opioid-addiction-genetic-test\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">National Geographic<\/a>. There is still some way to go before this test can be reliably used to pick out those more at risk, but the FDA said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/medical-devices\/medical-devices-news-and-events\/fda-approves-first-test-help-identify-elevated-risk-developing-opioid-use-disorder\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that innovative measures are needed to \u201cprevent, diagnose and treat opioid use disorder\u201d which includes evaluating an individual's susceptibility to addiction. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>How does polygenic risk testing work? <\/strong>This revolutionary approach in genetics traces back its roots to the groundbreaking work of geneticists who initially focused on testing single genes. However, the true breakthrough occurred in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa0706728\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">2008<\/a> when cardiologist and geneticist Sekar Kathiresan\u2019s team successfully combined the effects of numerous genes to assess an individual\u2019s risk. This discovery not only enhanced the identification of people at risk of heart disease \u2014 but also opened avenues for exploring broader applications of polygenic risk assessment. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Then what? <\/strong>Doctors can factor AvertD test scores into their patients\u2019 treatments. For example, if one is identified as having an above-average risk of opioid addiction, they can approach pain management differently and engage in educational conversations on the risks. However, the medical community is still grappling with the challenge of effectively implementing non-opioid pain management practices. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not everyone\u2019s convinced. <\/strong>Genetics are definitely a factor in understanding addiction, says psychiatric geneticist Arpana Agrawal, but we don\u2019t know enough to use DNA alone to predict the risk of addiction. Other experts expressed similar concern but don\u2019t deny that polygenic tests are promising risk tests in general, including for other diseases such as Type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>There are some kinks to work out before polygenic risk scores can be taken as fact. <\/strong>Psychiatric condition or not, there is a lot of overlap in genetic material making it hard to identify differences. This could indicate either the need for more research or that genetic differences are not significant enough in these cases. Like most regimes of this sort, she rules behind the screen and uses phrases such as \u201cI bless you all, and I bless our love. Always,\u201d a removal \u2014 or satire \u2014 of the rhetoric used by iron-fisted leaders. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>And like most authoritarian heads of state, she is paranoid\u2026of mold,<\/strong> which is ironic as she was a doctor by profession. Enter Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a corporal sporting an Eastern European accent (Winslet\u2019s Elena speaks RP English with a soft lisp) named \u2018The Butcher\u2019 on account of his actions killing protestors opposed to her regime. As a reward for his good work, he acts as a sort of \u2018mold\u2019 security \u2014 walking ahead of her to check the air should the humidity increase and put the chancellor at risk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The Butcher becomes her confidante and closest advisor.<\/strong> Elena and Herbert start to get closer as he exposes her to his parochial nationalist sentiments eventually becoming her confidante and source of advice. This comes as her ministers try to win her favor to avoid the risk of disappearing should she feel displeased by them. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>There\u2019s only one episode out so far, but we\u2019re already hooked.<\/strong> Kate Winslet is brilliant \u2014 there has already been chatter about her character being based on current totalitarian leaders. But we\u2019ll leave you to judge. It also took measures to mitigate the float\u2019s effect on the average citizen, hiking the minimum wage by 100% since last year. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#1- Ras El Hekma agreement:<\/strong> The Madbouly government <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b0b97fcf-95b0-4d39-86ae-0a4989221520\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">inked<\/a> a USD 35 bn agreement with ADQ last month, giving the Abu Dhabi wealth fund and longtime investor in Egypt the development rights to Ras El Hekma on the North Coast in what was Egypt\u2019s largest FDI transaction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Egypt received the first USD 10 bn tranche from the Ras El Hekma agreement last <\/strong><strong>weekend<\/strong>, and an additional USD 5 bn tranche is set to be rolled from a previous UAE deposit at the Central Bank of Egypt, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/0670d462-40ea-462c-a5af-3351e0e53fa4\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> at the time. Meanwhile, the remaining USD 20 bn from the agreement will be deposited within the next two months \u2014 USD 6 bn of which will be from existing UAE deposits at the CBE. Altogether, some USD 11 bn worth of UAE deposits will be converted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ALSO- Egypt received USD 520 mn<\/strong> as part of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9e88b903-fd4f-448e-b331-314accc55de9\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 800 mn sale<\/a> of seven historic hotels to Talaat Moustafa Group\u2019s Icon Investments. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2-<\/strong><strong>Rebooted state privatization program:<\/strong> The state\u2019s privatization program was rebooted in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a94808c5-7a0c-4027-a786-804f2dc35954\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">February<\/a> of last year and later <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/e8a0da43-f922-4a49-b3a9-839f397f8ce4\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">expanded<\/a> to include 35 companies that will sell stakes to private investors. The government raised some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/9e88b903-fd4f-448e-b331-314accc55de9\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 5.6 bn<\/a> from the program between April 2022 and December 2023.
