Holding Company (CIHC) is looking at several offers it has received to acquire 30% of its 51% stake in Eastern Company<strong> , <\/strong>CIHC said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2023\/8\/1031.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. It might feel a little too polished for a docudrama, and has caught a little bit of flack by its harshest critics for reducing a hallmark of systemic and politically-motivated injustice to a battle of Who Has the Best One-liner, but it is undoubtedly a grossly engaging depiction of a broken and corrupt justice system, released at a time where judicial miscarriages in the US were <a Speaking to us this week is Youssef Mohamed (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/generaleg\/?originalSubdomain=eg\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Linkedin<\/a>), founder and CTO of cybersecurity startup <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/buguard.io\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Buguard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"border-right-style:solid;border-top-width:0pt;border-left-style:solid;orphans:2;text-align:left;padding:0;margin:0;border-right-width:0pt;line-height:1.15;border-left-width:0pt;border-top-style:solid;border-bottom-width:0pt;border-bottom-style:solid;widows:2\"><strong> My name is Youssef Mohamed and I\u2019m the founder and CTO of Buguard. <\/strong> Buguard started back in 2021 as a professional services company and then we evolved to include a products and solutions portfolio. We mainly provide offensive security and governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) services to our customers, as well as dark web monitoring and solutions to help our customers prevent data leaks and impersonations for C-suite employees. We\u2019re based in Egypt and we <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1407d21c-6197-46bb-96a0-c4705efa7ed7\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">recently raised<\/a> USD 500k in a seed round led by MENA VC firm A15.<\/p>\n<p style=\"border-right-style:solid;border-top-width:0pt;border-left-style:solid;orphans:2;text-align:left;padding:0;margin:0;border-right-width:0pt;line-height:1.15;border-left-width:0pt;border-top-style:solid;border-bottom-width:0pt;border-bottom-style:solid;widows:2\"><strong> I started in cybersecurity as a security engineer back in 2017. <\/strong> I started freelancing because in the industry we have something called \u201cbug bounties\u201d: Big companies asking security engineers to find vulnerabilities in their systems and reporting them in exchange for monetary rewards \u2014 possibly up to USD 10k per bug. So I did that for companies like Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Snapchat, and others \u2014 it was very rewarding. I then took up cybersecurity positions in several companies like <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/zinad-security-and-software-services\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Zinad<\/a>, PwC Singapore, and PayMob. I still do bug bounty freelancing in addition to running a blog and Arabic cybersecurity podcast providing security content, because it\u2019s my passion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"border-right-style:solid;border-top-width:0pt;border-left-style:solid;orphans:2;text-align:left;padding:0;margin:0;border-right-width:0pt;line-height:1.15;border-left-width:0pt;border-top-style:solid;border-bottom-width:0pt;border-bottom-style:solid;widows:2\"><strong> The reason we started Buguard is that startups typically don\u2019t get big companies\u2019 <\/strong><strong> attention for cybersecurity services due to budget restraints<\/strong>. Throughout my career, I noticed we focused on a single type of customer and few companies cared about startups. But the fact of the matter is that these smaller businesses hold our data; we use them on a regular basis. What if they were to get hacked? That happens. That\u2019s why we started Buguard: To provide cybersecurity to all companies, regardless of their size and budget. <\/p>\n<p style=\"border-right-style:solid;border-top-width:0pt;border-left-style:solid;orphans:2;text-align:left;padding:0;margin:0;border-right-width:0pt;line-height:1.15;border-left-width:0pt;border-top-style:solid;border-bottom-width:0pt;border-bottom-style:solid;widows:2\"><strong> There were many challenges when I started Buguard. <\/strong> Initially, I started working in the UA market as it is huge and you can find customers who can evaluate your company based on your technical skills. But in our neck of the woods, it\u2019s different. You need references and a big client base to begin working. That\u2019s why Egypt was a tough market to compete in and we started working abroad until we built a solid enough client base and team. Currently, the challenge is more about hiring talented candidates as we are very selective since our mission \u2014 which includes companies or banks \u2014 is critical.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> My advice to anyone starting their own business is to be patient and focus on the work. <\/strong> Don\u2019t give up early on \u2014 hard work pays off. There are several people I personally turn to when I am in need of advice. Mostafa Menessy (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mostafa-menessy-a53458b1\/?originalSubdomain=eg\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Linkedin<\/a>), the CTO of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/paymob.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Paymob<\/a>, is one of them. I consider him my technical adviser. Being the founder of a startup is a very lonely journey until you find a great team to rely on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> The main KPIs we consider are how many customers we\u2019ve helped and have on board <\/strong><strong> and how many problems are reported to us from customers. <\/strong> We also look at any problems that may exist within our team \u2014 we are trying to maintain the same family-like dynamic we have and for that we must solve any issues in the early stages. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> Buguard was initially bootstrapped, since we\u2019re a profitable company. <\/strong> The funding round we just closed was our very first. But we didn\u2019t go to them for just the money: A15 is a great group of minds when it comes to business \u2014 and we needed their help with that. Having the support of Karim Beshara for example is a great plus.
