The statement, which does not provide specific details on which sectors are expected to fall under each category, notes that the government is working on putting together a \u201ccomprehensive view\u201d of which sectors the state will be involved in for the next three years. It outlines a \u201cgradual exit\u201d plan for the state from certain activities, which would be implemented in phases, while it will remain active in other sectors. Once the strategy is announced, the government will run an assessment of all state-held assets in the sectors it plans to exit and put in place a mechanism for these exits, the statement says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On that front, Fawry sold a 6% stake in a EGP 1.05 bn block transaction<\/strong>, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2022\/3\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-30-at-1.13.20-PM.png\">announcement<\/a> displayed on EGX screens today. The announcement does not specify the buyer, but the local press \u2014 including <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3qORcAa\">Hapi Journal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3IR40fQ\">Al Mal<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=30032022&id=548ed404-efbb-4820-9f26-03b73cfec601\">Al Shorouk<\/a> \u2014 appears to be in agreement that the unnamed entity is state-owned National Bank of Egypt (NBE). The transaction, which reportedly saw NBE purchasing the stake from foreign sellers, would raise its total stake in the fintech giant to 12.25%.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"content-anchor\" id=\"tldr-story-02\"><\/a> <strong>More good news today: It looks like we are getting deposits from the GCC after all. <\/strong>Saudi Arabia deposited USD 5 bn with the Central Bank of Egypt, on directives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, state-run <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3qMEodw\">Saudi Press Agency<\/a>(SPA) said. The move, which the statement says \u201creinforces the bilateral relations between the two countries\u201d and Riyadh\u2019s efforts to continue supporting Cairo, is the latest show of support from our GCC friends since last week\u2019s EGP depreciation and interest rate hike and the first to come in deposit form. Other allies have been showing their support through USD 7 bn in investments, with Abu Dhabi\u2019s ADQ <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/173a4bd1-68e9-478a-8422-135f238e0210\">pledging<\/a> USD 2 bn and Qatar <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c734fc23-c0c0-4322-bf5d-ce3c400e707a\">pledging<\/a> USD 5 bn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>^^We\u2019ll have more<\/strong> on these stories and others in tomorrow\u2019s <strong>EnterpriseAM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>** CATCH UP QUICK on the top stories from today\u2019s EnterpriseAM:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lots of investment news:<\/strong> Qatar has agreed <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c734fc23-c0c0-4322-bf5d-ce3c400e707a\">to invest USD 5 bn<\/a> here \u201cin the coming period,\u201d as we grapple with the impact of surging food and energy prices on the back of Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine. Qatar Energy also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qatarenergy.qa\/en\/MediaCenter\/Pages\/newsdetails.aspx?ItemId=3706\">announced<\/a> that it had agreed to acquire a 40% working interest in an Exxon\u2013owned exploration block in the Mediterranean.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Our wheat imports could hit a nine-year low: <\/strong>Egypt\u2019s wheat imports in the marketing year 2022-2023 are <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/1e08442b-dcd5-49c0-bfb2-d5e0d801eca2\">expected to drop 8.3% y-o-y<\/a> to 11 mn metric tonnes as the war cuts two of our biggest suppliers off from the export market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>E-receipt system pilot to kick off in April: <\/strong>The Finance Ministry will <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/a7a6e9c1-fff0-4b8c-b982-280ab0ccdade\">launch its e-receipt system<\/a> for B2C transactions this Friday, 1 April, to complement the ongoing rollout of its wider e-invoicing program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"grey-line\">\n<p><strong>THE BIG STORY ABROAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Russian forces are making a u-turn amid heavy losses<\/strong>, with Moscow pulling back from certain areas in Ukraine after making a <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/b4b30b47-7b0e-4508-91bc-9cc7b30cd7ce\">promise to de-escalate<\/a> its military operations. These include droughts in North Africa, Somalia and Iran, epidemics and locust infestations in the Horn of Africa, and severe floods in the Caucasus and Central Asia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The numbers are frightening: <\/strong>Climate disasters in the regions injured and displaced 7 mn people in an average year and caused more than 2.6k deaths and USD 2 bn in physical damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The solution? The world needs to cut global emissions by one half by 2030<\/strong> to avoid further consequences, Georgieva added. Members of the highly coveted NFT collection, the <a href=\"https:\/\/boredapeyachtclub.com\/#\/\" style=\"color: rgb(252, 118, 1);\">Bored Ape Yacht Club<\/a>, for example, received some 15% of the 1 bn ApeCoins released last week, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/janeslegacy.org\/\" style=\"color: rgb(252, 118, 1);\">Jane Goodall Legacy Foundation<\/a> was allocated 1% of the tokens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coins are supposed to be as democratic and decentralized as possible: <\/strong>Coin holdings determine influence over the ApeCoin decentralized autonomous organization (<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/2b6b581c-2046-4efe-b497-957025b0de93\" style=\"color: rgb(252, 118, 1);\">DAO<\/a>) \u2014 which is responsible for taking decisions on how the community is run. The ethos behind DAOs is this idea that online organizations can be collectively owned and managed by a group of members, with all of its decisions autonomously encoded in blockchain. The decentralized nature of these organizations means they avoid power-based hierarchical structures, and don\u2019t fall under the influence of a central authority or government.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But concerns are mounting about how the rest are being allocated: <\/strong>Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, received about 15% of the coins and all four of Yuga\u2019s founders received 8% between them. The VC investors that provided financial backing for the coin\u2019s launch \u2014 Andreessen Horowitz and Animoca Brands \u2014 received a combined 14%.
