While expected to boost US domestic production, the duties also challenge local renewable developers relying on foreign supplies as they could face higher costs and extended supply chain disruptions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">THE SCORECARD- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The <\/strong><strong>global wind<\/strong><strong> power capacity has hit 1.1 TW after adding 117 GW of new capacity in 2024<\/strong>, according to a Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2025\/4\/1591.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report (pdf)<\/a> issued on Wednesday. Of the new additions, 109 GW came from onshore wind and 8 GW from offshore. The GWEC expects a compound annual growth rate of 8.8% for the industry over the next five years, pushing global wind capacity up by another 981 GW by 2030.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Who\u2019s leading?<\/strong> China once again dominated the market, contributing 80 GW of new capacity \u2014 two-thirds of the global total.
