Oman pilots mining waste recovery program:<\/strong> Green Tech Mining & Services<\/a> \u2014 a joint<\/a>venture<\/a> between Oman Mining Company and Austria\u2019s BPG Precious Metals<\/a> \u2014 launched a pilot program for a mineral recovery and remediation<\/a>facility<\/a> at the Al-Arja project in Sohar, Oman News Agency<\/a> reported last week. The facility is expected to process 3.3 mn tons of waste annually starting mid-2026 at an investment cost of OMR 40 mn (EUR 100 mn), footed by BPG.<\/p>\n

How it works: <\/strong>The plant will feature fluid recycling systems and solar energy to reduce emissions and freshwater consumption. It will process waste leftover from mining activities and produce copper-rich solutions, which will be converted into pure copper cathodes using technologies including induction leeching and electrochemical solvent extraction.<\/p>\n

About Green Tech Mining: <\/strong>Green Tech Mining focuses on \u201ctailings\u201d \u2014 leftover materials or waste produced after extracting valuable minerals \u2014 as well as groundwater affected by mining projects, CEO and founder Ernst Grissemann told Oman Observer<\/a> in December.
