The deadline for submissions is 17 December. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#4- The EU\u2019s deforestation law has been delayed: <\/strong>The European Parliament narrowly voted to postpone the bloc\u2019s deforestation law to December 2025 in order to potentially water down the bill for member countries, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/environment\/european-parliament-approves-one-year-delay-eu-anti-deforestation-law-2024-11-14\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported on Thursday. The move \u2014 championed by the center-right European People's Party with far-right support \u2014 will require more negotiations with EU governments for a final compromise. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What is different? <\/strong>The initial bill adopted a risk-based approach that classified countries\u2019 deforestation risk as either \u201clow,\u201d \u201cstandard,\u201d or \u201chigh.\u201d The higher the country is placed on the risk grading system, the more stringent the requirements imposed on its producers are.
