Arctech <\/strong>to supply Acwa project with solar trackers:<\/strong> Chinese solar equipment maker Arctech will supply Acwa Power\u2019s solar project Haden in Saudi Arabia with its SkyLine II single-axis solar tracking system after signing an agreement with China Energy Engineering Group Company (CEEC), according to a statement<\/a> last week. Arctech will supply 2.3 GW worth of trackers, the statement said. No financial details were disclosed.<\/p>\n

About the tech:<\/strong> The SkyLine II trackers<\/a> \u2014 equipped with a \u201csynchronous multi-point drive mechanism\u201d \u2014 can withstand wind speeds up to 22 m\/s, making them more efficient for the plant\u2019s desert location and enhancing durability. The project is expected to generate approximately 156.2 bn kwh over 25 years, reducing nearly 147 mn tons of CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n

About the project: <\/strong>Acwa Power, PIF\u2019s Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel), and Aramco subsidiary Aramco Power, signed financing agreements<\/a> worth SAR 9.7 bn (USD 2.6 bn) to develop three large-scale solar PV projects in the Kingdom, including the 2 GW Haden project last month.<\/p>\n

Arctech is all over Saudi: <\/strong>Arctech was tapped in January to provide 1.7 GW of the same trackers by L&T Construction, which is building KSA\u2019s 1.3 GW Ar Rass 2 and 408 MW Al Kahfah projects<\/a>. Arctech was also tapped last year to provide trackers for a 1.5 GW ASB project and the 2 GW Al Shuaibah 2 project. The company has also partnered with the Industrial Cities and Technology Zones Authority (Modon) to build a solar components factory<\/a> in Jeddah with 3 GW of production capacity each year.<\/p>\n

Active in Oman, too: <\/strong>The company signed an agreement<\/a> in April to provide its SkyLine II solar tracking solutions for Oman\u2019s 500 MW Manah I solar project. <\/p>\n
