<\/strong>British oil giant BP is considering <\/strong>selling a minority stake in its offshore wind business<\/strong>, Reuters<\/a> reported on Friday, citing several unnamed sources. BP does not have any offshore wind projects in operation, but has a 9.6 GW pipeline in Asia, Europe, and the US.<\/p>\n

The company is scaling back its renewables investments: <\/strong>The company plans to sell a stake in its solar joint venture Lightsource BP once it completes its acquisition. The news comes not too long after BP said it was planning to sell its US onshore wind energy business<\/a> BP Wind Energy and shift focus to developing utility-scale onshore renewable energy and solar power globally through Lightsource BP. <\/p>\n

REMEMBER- BP\u2019s new CEO <\/strong>expressed his intention<\/a><\/strong> to slow down large low-carbon investments that are \u201cnot expected to be profitable for years.\u201d <\/strong>BP also dropped its ambitious goal to slash oil output by 40% before 2030 as a result of <\/span>Investors\u2019 skepticism<\/a> about the profitability of the company under its ambitious transition strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

France plans 9.2 GW of offshore wind: <\/strong>France\u2019s energy ministry is planning to launch tenders within the coming months for five wind farms with 9.2 GW capacity, Reuters<\/a> reported on Friday, citing a ministry decision. The government hopes the tenders will send a \u201csignal\u201d for manufacturers to stay in France and not \u201cde-localize.\u201d<\/p>\n
