The news comes on the heels of Norway's Equinor scrapping plans for a pipeline to Germany and Denmark, delaying a similar project until 2032. The delays complicate Germany's goal of meeting up to 70% of its hydrogen demand through imports by the end of the decade. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent;\">This comes as no surprise:<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\"> Equinor <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/3ae3f3f6-f4ad-4e72-a1f3-c47229c3f0ce\" rel=\"noopener\">attributed the delays and setbacks<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\"> to higher-than-expected costs and a lack of customers, while Denmark's transmission system operator Energinet attributed to increased project complexity and the need for more time by hydrogen developers. However, the Danish provider remained more positive about future demand for hydrogen fuel than Equinor. \u201cThere will be great demand for green hydrogen transported through the Danish-German hydrogen infrastructure,\u201d the Danish Climate, Energy, and Utilities Minister Lars Aagaard <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.en.kefm.dk\/news\/news-archive\/2024\/oct\/the-danish-government-backs-energinet-in-entering-the-next-phase-of-the-hydrogen-backbone-\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The consequences: <\/strong>German utilities like Uniper and EON have expressed concerns about the viability of the hydrogen market, Bloomberg reported. Uniper said it would postpone EUR 8 bn investments into green hydrogen and other emissions-friendly technologies beyond 2030 due to a lack of demand.
