The new design features a PV module, protective layers, a glass cover plate, and an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/idealheating.com\/tips-and-advice\/aluminium-heat-exchangers-the-benefits\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">aluminum heat exchanger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The results: <\/strong><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The exchanger effectively transfers heat from the PV module to the cooling fluid, addressing temperature imbalances that typically reduce the lifespan of solar panels. Simulations demonstrated an overall efficiency of 90.7% \u2014 broken up in 12.11% electrical efficiency and 78.59% thermal efficiency. Every 10 liter per hour increase in flow rate reduces the temperature of the solar cell by nearly 0.9\u00b0C, the researchers found.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Is<\/strong><strong> PVT a game changer for the region?<\/strong> PVT stations are <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0360544221018375\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">more efficient<\/a> and have a higher energy output under higher temperatures and strong solar radiation conditions compared to PV stations, which are better suited for low ambient temperatures and weak solar radiation. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The key difference: <\/strong>PV technology converts solar energy into electricity, but its electrical efficiency is relatively low, ranging from 6% to 25% under standard conditions. Most of the absorbed solar energy turns into heat, raising the PV panels' temperature and reducing their efficiency. PVT modules on the other hand combine PV and solar thermal technologies by having water flow through the PV panel to cool it and improve electrical efficiency while generating hot water. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Saudi is looking into other ways to improve solar cell efficiency: <\/strong>Researchers from Saudi Arabia\u2019s King Abdullah University of Science and Technology <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/a618aa34-463d-45f3-8232-9844a59dd703\/can-perovskite-solar-panels-pave-the-way-for-more-efficient-solar-power%3F\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">created tandem solar systems<\/a> with a power conversion efficiency rate of 33.2% \u2014 up 0.7 percentage points from previous global record holder Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.
