The PCAF will help QNB measure and disclose the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with its lending and investment portfolios in efforts to boost transparency and accountability for its environmental impact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Kuwait\u2019s NBK was the last MENA member to join:<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\"> The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) joined PCAF <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/2a11c725-aca5-401e-ac54-ab6ace3b0722\/added-%2B-alfahim-to-build-ecv-industrial-center-in-uae\" rel=\"noopener\">back in May<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">, becoming the first bank in Kuwait and one of six in the MENA region to do so at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>About PCAF:<\/strong> Founded in 2015 by fourteen Dutch financial institutions led by ASN Bank, PCAF is a global collaboration of financial institutions focused on developing and implementing a standardized approach to assess and disclose GHG emissions from their loans and investments, according to their <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/carbonaccountingfinancials.com\/en\/about\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. This accounting method helps institutions set science-based targets and align their portfolios with the Paris Climate Agreement. PCAF has also created an open-source GHG accounting standard for the financial industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">SUSTAINABILITY-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Egypt + WEF to prepare renewables guidebook:<\/strong> Egypt is preparing a comprehensive digital guidebook for renewable energy solutions and practices, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mped.gov.eg\/singlenews?id=5620&amp;lang=en&amp;As-Co-Chair,-Al-Mashat-Participates-in-the-World-Economic-Forum%E2%80%99s-Meeting-of-the-%E2%80%9CNetwork-to-Mobilize-Investment-for-Clean-Energy-in-the-Global-South%E2%80%9D\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. The discussion on the guidebook came during a meeting of the World Economic Forum\u2019s (WEF) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/initiatives.weforum.org\/micee\/network\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Network to Mobilize Investment for Clean Energy in the Global South<\/a> attended by Egypt\u2019s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. The guide will be reviewed at the October Energy Ministers\u2019 meeting in Brazil. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>About the network: <\/strong>Launched in January 2024, the WEF\u2019s network \u2014 made up of government representatives, international institutions and development partners \u2014 aims to increase green investment sevenfold over the next decade. Specific targets include quantifying the investment needed, exchanging knowledge on green finance, and crafting policy to accelerate energy transition financing.
