The country reached a EUR 2.6 bn agreement with energy firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rwe.com\/en\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">RWE<\/a> back in 2022 to close its coal plants by 2030, but Germany failed to secure a similar agreement with fellow energy firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leag.de\/en\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LEAG<\/a>, which supplies about 10% of Germany's lignite-fired power. The G7 pledged to phase out coal power during the first half of the 2030s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/fef72cac-2efd-4123-8eca-c874dff5d8b2\/masdar-snaps-up-more-eu-assets-%2B-pif%25e2%2580%2599s-holon-acquisition-gets-the-thumbs-up\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">earlier this month<\/a>, but still left leeway for a later date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Italian energy group Eni plans to <\/strong><strong>complete a minority stake sale of its biofuel unit <\/strong><strong>Enilive<\/strong><strong> by the end of the year<\/strong>, Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi said, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/italys-eni-likely-finalise-enilive-stake-sale-by-year-end-ceo-says-2024-06-24\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reports. The sale is part of Eni\u2019s strategy to create separate specialized entities called satellites with the support of investors.
