DEBT WATCH-<\/p>\n

<\/strong>World Bank helps tackle Tunisia\u2019s climate-driven food security challenges:<\/strong> The World Bank has approved two loans for Tunisia totaling USD 520 mn aimed at combating food security challenges and regional disparities, according to a statement<\/a> released on Friday. The first loan of USD 300 mn will finance the Emergency Food Security Response Project<\/a> to help address the impact of drought on food security by supporting wheat imports, providing barley for milk production, and distributing climate-resilient seeds for wheat producers. The second USD 220 mn loan will fund the Tunisia Economic Development Corridor<\/a> project, aimed at reducing regional economic disparities by improving road infrastructure and enhancing access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. <\/p>\n

We knew this was coming:<\/strong> The World Bank first announced that it could extend a support package to Tunisia<\/a> to address the impact of climate change on the country\u2019s food security last month. Tunisia stands to lose up to USD 54 bn by 2050 due to the effects of climate change, the lender estimates, and needs to boost its water and agriculture resilience. Droughts have caused a two-thirds drop in the harvest of some of Tunisia\u2019s crops<\/p>\n

GREEN INDUSTRY-<\/p>\n

Schneider Electric<\/a><\/strong> and Saudi tech company <\/strong>DataVolt<\/a><\/strong> have signed an agreement to <\/strong>partner on data center sustainability and innovation<\/strong>, a press release<\/a> said on Thursday. The partnership will involve exploring joint initiatives within DataVolt\u2019s sustainability strategy and decarbonization roadmap, as well as advance digital infrastructure and energy management solutions for hyperscale data centers in KSA. The two firms will also explore avenues for establishing digital infrastructure and energy management solutions for the specific needs of hyperscale data centers. Schneider will also support DataVolt by contributing to a more sustainable data center industry in KSA, develop future-proof data centers that meet ever-growing demand for hyperscale computing power, and optimize energy usage and minimize operational costs for the data centers, the release says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
