India plans to <\/strong>boost its nuclear power sector by inviting private firms to invest around USD 26 bn in building nuclear energy projects<\/strong>, Reuters<\/a> reports. Five private companies, including Reliance Industries<\/a>, Adani Power<\/a>, and Tata Power<\/a>, are in talks with India's government to each invest about USD 5.3 bn in the nuclear projects, which will be operated by the state-run Nuclear Power Corp of India. The plan is expected to add 11 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2040. India aims to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 50% by 2030.<\/p>\n

MT Chemical Challenger, the world's first chemical tanker ship with sails, has departed <\/strong>from Antwerp for Istanbul in a bid to cut emissions by using wind power<\/strong>, France 24<\/a> reports. The sails \u2014 similar to aircraft wings \u2014 reduce fuel consumption by using wind power to propel the vessel and are expected to cut fuel consumption by 10-20%, slashing CO2 emissions by 850 tonnes annually.<\/p>\n

Not the first wind-powered ship: <\/strong>A dry cargo ship with metal sails set sail last August<\/a> from Singapore to Brazil to study how wind energy can cut carbon emissions.
