This latest financing brings the company\u2019s total debt and equity financing up to over USD 13 bn, which will fuel expansion plans in Sweden, Poland, Germany, the United States, and Canada. The debt \u2014 including the refinancing of a USD 1.6 bn package from 2020 \u2014 is provided by a consortium of 23 commercial banks, along with the European Investment Bank and the Nordic Investment Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Northvolt has been raking it in: <\/strong>The company <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/95eada67-7826-4111-8a7f-333d4b2d2f1a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">raised USD 1.2 bn<\/a> last August from international investors \u2014 including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs \u2014 and Canadian pension funds in preparation for expanding in Europe and North America.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Vestas'<\/strong><strong> wind operations are getting greener: <\/strong>Danish wind turbine maker Vestas is partnering with European steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal to use recycled steel in Vestas\u2019 wind turbine towers, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-01-16\/greener-wind-turbines-made-with-recycled-steel-come-to-europe?srnd=green\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> writes. The new turbines \u2014 which will reduce emissions by 66% compared to common ones \u2014 will account for two-thirds of the 76 turbines to be installed in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vestas.com\/en\/media\/company-news\/2023\/vestas-receives-1-140-mw-offshore-order-in-poland-c3844200\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Baltic Power farm<\/a> next year. The greener steel can cut emissions by 25% if used in the top two parts of offshore towers, and even more for those that are onshore, where it can make up the entire tower structure. Vestas is currently building Egypt's <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/68cee6d6-5517-4793-8ccb-cefea32b1955\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Gulf of Suez<\/a> wind farm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not the only efforts to green the turbine industry: <\/strong>Spanish renewables giant Iberdrola, which co-owns <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/5d9f1541-8664-401c-b13b-5b76c43ba7cc\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">East Anglia 3 and Baltic Eagle wind farms<\/a> with the UAE's Masdar, is reassembling and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iberdrola.com\/sustainability\/wind-blade-recycling\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">reusing using old blades and building a turbine blade recycling plant<\/a> to recover the materials for use in different fields including energy and construction. Despite objections from China, Japan started discharging the wastewater <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/4069e5f5-53b7-499e-a185-3f8892c6eb14\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">in August<\/a>, starting with around 8k tons out of the 1.34 mn tons of accumulated wastewater.
