We have an updated text of the Global Stocktake: <\/strong>After garnering outrageous response<\/a> to an initial \u201cfully unacceptable\u201d and \u201cnot consistent\u201d draft of the Global Stocktake, a revised draft still does not include a commitment to phase out or phase down fossil fuels. The updated document instead calls for \u201ctransitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly and equitable manner ... so as to achieve net zero by 2050 in keeping with the science\" with a \u201cneed for deep, rapid and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in line with 1.5C pathways.\u201d <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the revised wording: <\/strong>The optional \u201ccould\u201ds<\/a> are out. Instead the revised text \u201ccalls on\u201d parties to \u201ccontribute to the following global efforts, in a nationally determined manner, taking into account the Paris Agreement and their different national circumstances, pathways and approaches\u201d:<\/p>\n
