The country has \u201csignificant\u201d onshore storage capacity in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/B9780444632593000100\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">saline aquifers<\/a>, which allows for carbon storage without costly offshore infrastructure, according to the study. If developed, the projects can reduce up to 100 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to 25% of Egypt\u2019s emissions goals defined in its nationally determined contributions.
