Robotic arms, programmed to sort through tons of waste, are able to identify specific materials and recover 10 to 30% more than traditional methods, CEO of EverestLabs JD Ambati told CNBC. One method used by EverestLabs is installing 3D depth-sensing cameras on recycling conveyor lines to identify the items on the conveyor.
