Where does our region stand?<\/strong> While seaweed cultivation and bioprocessing is still scarce in MENA and GCC areas \u2014 valued at nominal USD 28.9 mn in 2022 \u2014 Tunis made strides<\/a>increasing its red seaweed harvest operations in 2021. Further afield, Africa is also eying potential growth in the seaweed production, with one study<\/a> highlighting the continent\u2019s unlocked potential given its position as the third-largest producer of red seaweed.<\/p>\n
