The statement does not provide further details on the potential investment size, production capacity, or timeline for any of the projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s signing? <\/strong>Saudi renewables player Acwa Power; a consortium of <a href=\"https:\/\/benchmark-energy.com\/\">Benchmark<\/a> and the Holding Company for Chemical Industries; China Energy; Germany\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dai.com\/\">DAI<\/a>; India\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ocior.in\/\">Ocior Energy<\/a>; BP; and a consortium of France\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voltalia.com\/\">Voltalia<\/a> and Egypt\u2019s Taqa Arabia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are plenty of familiar names there:<\/strong> French renewables company Voltalia has also been mulling new solar and wind energy investments since <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2021\/06\/08\/enterprise-talks-to-french-ambassador-stphane-romatet-on-building-a-greener-egypt-43097\/\">last year<\/a>, while Acwa Power is planning a <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/11\/16\/this-evening-we-have-a-new-supreme-investment-council-headed-by-the-president-poland-says-missile-attack-likely-wasnt-intentional-87883\/\">1.1 GW wind farm<\/a> in the Gulf of Suez with our friends at Hassan Allam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Demand is high for Egypt\u2019s green energy hub projects: <\/strong>The new MoUs come after Egypt signed agreements with 16 other companies and consortiums to establish green hydrogen and green ammonia projects, including nine <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/11\/16\/egypt-signs-framework-agreements-for-green-hydrogen-ammonia-plants-worth-usd-83-bn-87840\/\">framework agreements<\/a> for projects that would, if implemented, bring in USD 83 bn of investments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEANWHILE- Australia\u2019s Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) could begin production at its <\/strong><strong>planned USD 10 bn, <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/09\/11\/karmell-take-two-everything-is-set-for-the-national-dialogue-to-begin-80835\/\">9.2<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/09\/11\/karmell-take-two-everything-is-set-for-the-national-dialogue-to-begin-80835\/\">GW green hydrogen plant<\/a><\/strong><strong> in Egypt in 2027<\/strong>, with the company currently in talks with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) for land allocation, FFI\u2019s Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia President Moataz Kandil said, according to local media outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alborsaanews.com\/2022\/12\/07\/1605887\">Al Borsa<\/a>. The company expects to complete the plant by 2030, Kandil said in a separate interview with Bloomberg Asharq (<a href=\"https:\/\/now.asharq.com\/category\/56\/%D8%AA%D8%BA%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%AE%D8%A7%D8%B5%D8%A9\/1506822\/%D9%82%D9%86%D8%AF%D9%8A%D9%84-%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%B9-%D8%A5%D9%86%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%AC-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%87%D9%8A%D8%AF%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%AC%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%B6%D8%B1-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D8%A3%D8%AD%D8%AF-%D8%A3%D9%83%D8%A8%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85\">watch, runtime: 7:53<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>REFRESHER- <\/strong>FFI signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/08\/24\/four-global-firms-in-the-running-to-build-anchorages-usd-2-bn-petchem-complex-79007\/\">MoU<\/a> with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (SFE), the SCZone, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and the country\u2019s New and Renewable Energy Authority to begin conducting feasibility studies on its planned green hydrogen project back in August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The details: <\/strong>The project comprises a number of renewable energy production stations with a combined 7.6 GW capacity to produce as much as 330 tons of green hydrogen annually by the time the project\u2019s construction is completed, Kandil told Al Borsa. FFI signed a framework agreement with the government to set up a <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.press\/stories\/2022\/11\/16\/egypt-signs-framework-agreements-for-green-hydrogen-ammonia-plants-worth-usd-83-bn-87840\/\">green ammonia production facility<\/a> with an annual production capacity of some 2 mn tons on the sidelines of COP27.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is the money coming from? <\/strong>The project will be financed through \u201cequity capital, loans from multilateral development banks and commercial banks, and possibly a bond issuance,\u201d Kandil told Asharq.
