Neither party has announced the size of the stake Wafra took or now much it paid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What will Mission do with the investment? <\/strong>The Virginia-based company will use Wafra\u2019s investment to expand its 3 GW project development pipeline focusing on solar and storage in the US. Mission is also expecting investments from Aggregate Power Infrastructure (API) \u2014 an affiliate of sustainability sector financial advisor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cohnreznickcapital.com\/\">Cohn Reznick Capital<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What exactly is Wafra? They\u2019re the GCC\u2019s go to green asset managers in the US:<\/strong> Founded in 1985 as Wafra Investment Group Advisory, the firm has been managing sovereign GCC institutions\u2019 investments, including Kuwait Investment Authority, according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3TxWHzs\">website<\/a>. It currently has about USD 33 bn assets under management (AUM), spanning across real estate, liquid markets, private equity and venture capital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Mission Clean Energy: <\/strong>Established earlier this year, the company develops solar projects in the US. Its services include land acquisition, permit issuances, construction, long-term operations and maintenance. It also builds energy storage facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From the US to Europe, GCC investing in western green assets has become a trend:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kuwait\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agility.com\/en\/agility-ventures\/\">Agility Ventures<\/a> \u2014 along with US VC <a href=\"https:\/\/fifthwall.com\/\">firm Fifth Wall<\/a> \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3D74U87\">poured USD 40 mn<\/a> in US-based EV charging station company Loop Global.<\/li>\n<li>Abdul Latif Jameel Energy\u2019s subsidiary FRV is <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/ee0ca878-0d4b-4cb7-9663-923d5f719cda\">investing<\/a> in German solar-as-a-service provider Ecoligo.<\/li>\n<li>Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/7f08c548-f1f0-4af6-b4af-89e38536c013\">led<\/a> a EUR 250 mn series D investment round for Paris-based biotech company Innovafeed.<\/li>\n<li>QIA also made a landmark EUR 2.4 bn <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/d26e3e11-d63e-49eb-8c4b-9cd96ab41746\">acquisition<\/a> in major German utilities provider RWE in a debt-to-equity swap that will eventually see QIA own 9.09% of the company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ADVISORS- <\/strong>Latham and Watkins served as legal advisor to Wafra and API.
