in the industry abroad, <\/strong>but China\u2019s Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) launch of \u201cthe world\u2019s first ultra-safe skateboard chassis\u201d for EVs, dubbed the CATL Bedrock Chassis, grabbed some ink.The world\u2019s biggest EV battery producer <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.catl.com\/en\/news\/6343.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> its new product can withstand 120 km\/h frontal impact without catching fire or exploding, setting \u201cnew standards\u201d for the industry\u2019s safety. <strong>The story got coverage in <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/chinas-catl-launches-ev-platform-flagging-safety-top-selling-point-2024-12-24\/\" style=\"\" The solar PV sites will be located in Al Fayah, Al Khazna, and Al Zarraf, and a wind power plant will be allocated in Al Sila. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>More on the projects: <\/strong>The projects will add 4.5 GW of clean energy to Abu Dhabi. The project sites \u2014 spanning an area of 75 sqkm \u2014 were identified and secured through collaboration with Abu Dhabi\u2019s Department of Energy and the Environment Agency. Details on the tendering timeline and the standalone capacity of each project were not disclosed. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>There\u2019s a lot in the pipeline: <\/strong>Ewec has at least <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/9d596053-d18b-47ed-8d62-e927fec10cdc\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">four known utility-scale solar projects<\/a>, with a total capacity of 7 GW. The projects include the operational <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/66d56efc-43f3-4761-97d0-72329c6d0269\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">2 GW Al Dhafra PV<\/a> plant and the under-construction <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/499601fe-117e-440a-9f14-b38c1e76064a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">1.5 GW Al Ajban solar PV<\/a> facility, in addition to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/e8dd65c1-1a2a-48d2-a57e-bb06f1836ab3\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">1.5 GW Khazna solar PV<\/a> and the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/9d596053-d18b-47ed-8d62-e927fec10cdc\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">1.5 GW Zarraf solar PV<\/a> projects, which are both still in the tendering process. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>#2- Egypt\u2019s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has lined up framework <\/strong><strong>agreements exploring green hydrogen projects worth a total of USD 64 bn<\/strong>, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EgyptianCabinet\/posts\/pfbid02VNx6Ubxhqg5RaDyiUD2RvxNayV8EfUGAfH3si11iLETYboh8VAP8jmeQ8oGs1k2ml?rdid=lHpeLnRCYbL8Zav9\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. So far, 30 MoUs have been signed, with 12 advancing to a \u2018framework agreement\u2019 for possible green hydrogen production totaling a capacity of 18 mn tons per year, SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El Din said in the statement. USD 17.7 bn of that total were sold this year only, edging out the previous record from last year with a 7% increase. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s behind the surge? <\/strong>Ins.ers and issuers have been drawn to the debt instruments because higher inflation has made it more costly to rebuild after damage from natural disasters. The bonds are more profitable than many other fixed-income assets, with investors set to earn 16% returns this year. Investors \u201ccan expect high single-digit to low double-digit gross returns\u201d in 2025 as well, the head of Twelve Capital AG\u2019s cat. bond portfolio Tanja Wrosch told Bloomberg. COP28 President Designate Sultan Al Jaber called on nations to join the pledge in July to deliver more sustainable cooling solutions globally ahead of COP28. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Big economic and human costs: <\/strong>On average, there are almost 500k heat-related deaths annually \u2013 the death rate for those over 65 alone is expected to quadruple by 2050 from the 2018 average of 300k. Worker productivity and economic output will also see major hits due to excessive heating. Working hours equivalent to up to 136 mn jobs would be lost, and the world GDP would see a USD 2.4 tn loss by 2030. Furthermore, the lack of access to refrigerating systems has far-reaching impacts on health and food security, leading to perishing medications, vaccines, and food products in poorer regions. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- MENA is especially vulnerable: <\/strong>The region\u2019s geographical position, and geopolitical and socioeconomic status make it <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/a6805fdb-c8d6-487e-8e4f-95fd155af362\/%253cmark%253eclimate-resilient-infrastructure%253c%2Fmark%253e-is-a-necessary-adaptation-method-for-mena\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">more susceptible<\/a> to the effects of heat stress caused by climate change.
