The launch will coincide with the company\u2019s largest auction to date with carbon credits ranging between 2.5 mn - 3 mn tons up for grabs. Regional and Saudi companies, including Aramco and Sabic, will participate in the auction, ElGizy added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>This will be the company\u2019s third auction: <\/strong>The company hit the ground running in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/96ce0e75-0c9d-4f03-9e80-cc238211358c\/a-new-regional%253cmark%253e-voluntary-carbon-market%253c%2Fmark%253e-company,-courtesy-of-pif\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">October 2022<\/a> with an auction of 1 mn tons of carbon credits. Then in June 2023, RVCMC held its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/a86c6cf4-8b17-4320-a2af-33c23bf7d8ab\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">second auction<\/a> in Nairobi which drew big demand from over a dozen firms who bid on an available 2 mn tons of carbon credits. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- RVCMC has long been preparing for the Saudi carbon market:<\/strong> RVCMC hired global ESG commodities exchange platform Xpansiv <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/8c31243b-17d7-4147-be74-d979794043c5\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">back in April<\/a> to provide a tech base for the carbon credit exchange. The company also signed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/f64b3a62-1813-43d3-8a57-9d63ff264a14\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">two MoUs<\/a> with Kenya\u2019s main dry cell battery maker Eveready East Africa and Carbon Vista Nigeria to set up high-quality and impactful carbon projects in the two countries last year. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The kingdom<\/strong><strong> has its eye on the prize:<\/strong> RVCMC is poised to become one of the largest global markets for carbon credits, reaching a trading volume of 100 mn tons by 2030, El Gizy told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aawsat.com\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%AA%D8%B5%D8%A7%D8%AF\/5066327-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D8%B9%D9%88%D8%AF%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%87%D8%AF%D9%81-%D8%AD%D8%B5%D8%A9-%D9%85%D9%86-%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%82-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%88%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%84-%D8%AD%D8%AC%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%86%D8%A8%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%AB%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%86%D8%B7%D9%82%D8%A9\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Asharq Al Awsat<\/a> in a separate interview. At the moment, the company accounts for about 1.3% of the global carbon trading market size <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>IN OTHER SAUDI NEWS- <\/strong><strong>Azerbaijan is looking to <\/strong><strong>establish a joint sovereign investment fund with Saudi Arabia to <\/strong><strong>boost investment in priority sectors in both countries<\/strong>, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov told Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC) Chairman Hassan bin Moajab Al Huwaizi, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spa.gov.sa\/N2180748\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">SPA<\/a> reports. Jabbarov discussed the idea with Al Huwaizi during his <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/ksa\/en\/news\/story\/200c39e7-1ed8-4209-892e-db8152ff7f6e\/al-nassr-vs.-qatar%25e2%2580%2599s-al-rayyan-today\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">visit to Azerbaijan<\/a> at the head of an FSC trade mission. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The potential investment areas:<\/strong> Officials discussed channeling Saudi investments towards Azerbaijan\u2019s energy, renewables, manufacturing, tourism, infrastructure, livestock, agriculture, and mining sectors, while also facilitating Azerbaijani companies' involvement in infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia and exports of foodstuffs to the Kingdom. Incentives for Saudi investors at Azerbaijan's freezones were also on the agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a>#2- Norway\u2019s shelving of hydrogen pipeline plans is threatening Germany\u2019s blue hydrogen goals<\/strong> leading to \u201cconcern\u201d for the sector, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-10-01\/german-top-official-slams-norway-for-axing-hydrogen-pipeline?srnd=homepage-asia\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports, citing comments made by economy ministry head Philipp Steinberg. The decision caused a \u201cproblem\u201d for Germany which is looking to import 1 mn tons of blue hydrogen starting from 2030 and was banking on Norway to be its first major supplier while pipeline projects in Spain, Portugal, and Denmark took longer to be ready. Germany had already put plans in motion to set up a core hydrogen grid in anticipation of securing the offtake and set up EUR bn in subsidy schemes. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Background: <\/strong>Norway\u2019s biggest oil and gas company Equinor <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/3ae3f3f6-f4ad-4e72-a1f3-c47229c3f0ce\/australia-%2B-us-to-finalize-critical-minerals-agreement-by-the-end-of-the-year\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">halted plans<\/a> for a Norway-Germany blue hydrogen pipeline last month with German electricity company RWE due to a lack of customer, supply, and regulatory framework. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Which one is it? <\/strong>European investors aren\u2019t drawn to hydrogen projects due to the financial risks associated, but those same European countries signed the Paris Climate Agreement. \u201cMany countries seem to be positioning themselves in such a way that they say, that\u2019s totally great with the energy transition and hydrogen, and then Germany gets to pay for it,\u201d Steinberg added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER-<\/strong> Germany is heavily reliant on coal and gas and expects to buy up to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/279e7f61-a886-4d3f-91bb-e383ddf11e48\/germany-goes-all-in-on-hydrogen\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">70% of its hydrogen<\/a> abroad to reach its goal of up to 130 TWh. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">THE SCORECARD- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Highest growth in renewables\u2019 labor recorded: <\/strong>Renewable energy jobs increased 18% y-o-y in 2023 from 13.7 mn to 16.2 mn, according to a joint <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/10\/82.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report (pdf)<\/a> by the International Renewable Energy Agency and International Labour Organization. Almost two-thirds of the added global wind and solar capacity came from China alone, creating an estimated 7.4 mn jobs equivalent to 46% of the global renewables job total. The EU, Brazil, and the US and India were next in the rankings with 1.8 mn, 1.56 n, and almost 1 mn respectively. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Solar PV took the lead: <\/strong>The biggest driver of the increase in jobs was the surge in the global solar photovoltaics (PV) sector which added 7.2 mn jobs with 4.6 mn in China. Liquid biofuels were responsible for the second largest amount of jobs followed by hydropower and wind. China also dominated the wind sector along with Europe. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Africa fell behind: <\/strong>Africa receives a small share of renewables investments, with a lack of attention to remote areas.
