The EU car sector can\u2019t meet the target due to \u201clow consumer demand for EVs and unfair competition from third country EV manufacturers,\u201d the group says. purchase agreement worth USD 600 mn with the EETC for the country\u2019s first hybrid battery storage project with 1 GW solar and 100 MW battery storage system, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/scatec.com\/2024\/09\/12\/scatec-signs-ppa-for-1-gw-solar-and-100-mw-200-mwh-battery-storage-project-in-egypt\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>. Scatec will handle Engineering, Procurement & Construction, Asset Management, and Operations & Maintenance for the project. The agreement was denominated in USD, the company said, without disclosing its value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong>Scatec is working on finalizing the land lease agreements, grid connection agreements, and financing as it prepares to begin construction. Fertiglobe recently secured a EUR 397 offtake agreement with Germany to supply green ammonia from the facility from 2027-2033. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2-<\/strong> <strong>OC-Led consortium sets the wheels in motion on wind farm expansion: <\/strong>A consortium of Orascom Construction, Toyota Tsusho, and Engie inked a land usufruct agreement and a PPA with the EETC and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) for a project that will see the consortium <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/8a6e9d0a-9151-414c-b5d3-ab79b1d8b440\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">add 150 MW of wind energy capacity<\/a> to its 500 MW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez, according to the cabinet statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The timeline:<\/strong> The first 250 MW phase of the wind project is expected to go live in the last month of the year, begin feeding the national grid by Q3 2025, and wrap up the 150 MW extension by 3Q 2025, the company said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/9\/1097.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#3- Amea Power <\/strong><strong>secures<\/strong><strong> two landmark projects in Egypt:<\/strong> UAE-based Amea Power inked power purchase agreements to develop and expand solar and battery energy storage system projects in Egypt, it said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ameapower.com\/amea-power-to-develop-largest-solar-pv-project-in-africa-and-first-to-implement-utility-scale-battery-energy-storage-solution-in-egypt\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>.
