Chinese manufacturers are looking to bypass EU tariffs on their EVs through similar agreements with countries like Turkey which has a customs agreement with the EU. Turkey already partnered with EV maker BYD for a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/036d43a7-abf8-4f05-b5aa-089dbed2c88a\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 1 bn EV and hybrid production plant<\/a> last July.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WORTH READING- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a><\/strong><strong>Morocco\u2019s <\/strong><strong>desalination sector is setting an example: <\/strong>The renewables-powered desalination plant in Morocco\u2019s Agadir, run by Spanish company <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/coxabengoa.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Coxabengoa<\/a>, is setting an example for addressing water scarcity without high costs, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/how-a-moroccan-fishing-town-could-hold-the-key-to-water-stress-in-a-warming-world-16c3b5f0\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports. The plant uses wind and solar power and produces 275k cubic meters of water daily, supporting both drinking water and irrigation needs. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The synergy between desalination and renewable is crucial:<\/strong> Desalination is an energy-intensive process, but the combination of renewable power and desalination is proving effective, especially in regions like North Africa and the Middle East. Desalination costs have dropped by 60% in the last decade to around 37 cents per cbm while renewable energy costs have also decreased by two-thirds in parallel, WSJ adds, citing GWI data. This decline in costs, along with increased plant capacity, has resulted in a significant reduction in the cost of desalinated water.
