The NGOs argue that the targets are not based on the best available science and fail to align with the Paris Agreement\u2019s goal. Exxon sees global emissions starting to drop for the first time by 2030, with a 25% drop in emissions projected by 2050 as renewable energy sources grow. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not on that pathway just yet: <\/strong>\u201cThe International Energy Agency (IEA) says, as do we, that the world is not on that pathway,\u201d Chris Birdsall, Exxon\u2019s director of economics and energy, told Bloomberg. \u201cWe have to be crystal clear on the path the world is on. Otherwise, we delude ourselves.\u201d The IEA said global demand would have to drop 75% to 24 mn barrels a day by 2050 to limit warming to 1.5C. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- Others are in agreement: <\/strong>The world is transitioning away from fossil fuels too slowly, with fossil fuel consumption still breaking records and oil demand rising as countries operate in an \u201cenergy addition\u201d phase rather than \u201csubstitution\u201d phase, British oil firm BP <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/6efbc0be-16ad-45d7-b046-fd73c9682714\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">said in July<\/a>. The green ammonia plant\u2019s output is estimated at 100k tons annually. Delivery for the project is being led by Jesa, with completion set for 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>All part of an ambitious plan by OCP:<\/strong> The project is part of OCP's USD 12 bn <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocpgroup.ma\/Strategy\/Commitments\/Green-Investment-Program\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">green growth program<\/a> over 2023-2027 under efforts by the fertilizers giant to boost output and shift to renewable energy to help it reach carbon neutrality by 2040. Most of the energy produced from the program will power 2-GW electrolyzers that extract hydrogen from water. The program sees 10 mn cbm of water derived from sea through desalination plants annually, with green hydrogen produced by electrolyzers acting as an input to the ammonia synthesis. Some bacteria can synthesize nanoparticles of metals, for example. We believe they do this as a detoxification process.
