Let\u2019s dive right in. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong>THE<\/strong><strong> BIG CLIMATE STORY OUTSIDE THE REGION-<\/strong> <strong>Australia <\/strong><strong>approves mega solar <\/strong><strong>project: <\/strong>The Australian government <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/minister.dcceew.gov.au\/plibersek\/media-releases\/albanese-government-gives-environment-approvals-australias-biggest-renewable-energy-project-ever\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a> what it says is the country\u2019s largest-ever solar power farm. The USD 20 bn project, led by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.suncable.energy\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Sun Cable<\/a>, will have an estimated capacity of around 6 GW and will <strong>supply the domestic market and export green power to Singapore via a 4.3k-kilometer subsea cable<\/strong>. The project is called the Australia-Asia Power Link, or AAPowerLink. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>A big move for Australia: <\/strong>Once operational, the project will be Australia\u2019s \u201cbiggest renewable energy project ever,\u201d and is expected to push the country into becoming a global \u201crenewable energy superpower,\u201d environment minister Tanya Plibersek said. The project will be \u201ceconomically and socially transformational,\u201d the minister added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong>Sun Cable is working on land use agreements in Australia and permits from the governments of Indonesia and Singapore. The plant will convert some 1.2k tons of municipal solid waste per day to 30 MWh of electricity.
